Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

We played poorly the last game. Jones played beyond poorly on the offensive end, as did Watford. In the end, though, we lost a three point game....there isn't a single individual who couldn't have played three points better than they did with the possible exception of Sheehey.
When I say "had LIKE" 25 deflections and 4 steals , that's just a rough estimate. I don't sit there with a fuckin stat book during the game. Whoopdee doo. Fact is, he EASILY leads our team in deflections, does lead in steals as he should, but he's by far our best on ball defender. Him, Sheehey, and (gonna heart some shit for this one) Daniel Moore are our 3 BEST defenders. Not saying anyone else isn't good, just they're our best.

Why? Because the put the effort needed into defense.
Wow,

VO has one more steal than Zeller. Zeller has more blocks and rebounds. I have heard it all when Daniel Moore is a better defender than Zeller.
Once again putting words in my mouth. You guys are professionals at that shit.

I'm talking on ball defender. No, Cody ISN'T as good as an on ball defender as Daniel Moore. There's been a lot of times Cody could have been a little more aggressive and went for a block and/or contest a shot more than he has. But he'll learn, he's just a freshman. He's a solid defender.

Moore is a senior, and he played in the UK game for a reason. His defense is just awesome on the ball. He's our quickest defender for sure (I'm sure his soccer days helped tremendously here). You're a Purdue fan, you don't watch every IU game, therefore your opinion on the matter is void. Shoo shoo.
How do you know how many IU games I watch?

Did you ever consider that if Cody went after every block he might foul out. Maybe he as Bball IQ and knows he can't block every shot.

So because I am a Purdue fan you can't be wrong?

[/quote]I'm not saying that.

You act like I'M wrong saying that Daniel Moore's on ball defense is worthy of top 3 on our team. That's laughable. The only reason he doesn't get PT is because he's 5'8 and a liability on offense.

I knew that this early season success was going warp some people's realities. Unfortunately, its only going to get worse with more losses. I mean, people are calling for Matt Roth and Remy Abell to be in the game in late situations.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Fact: This team is filled with terrible on-ball defenders. Moore, Hulls, and Roth are probably the three worst. Opposing guards can shoot warm-up jumpers at will when Hulls and Moore are guarding them.

But in opposition, I don't see what's so funny about calling for Abell to get more PT down the stretch last game. We needed defense, especially when we're pressuring and fouling, and then subbing in on offense. You cannot deny that having Abell in on defense would be a much better option than Hulls giving up easy inbounds passes and then fouling out of a one-possession game.

I seem to remember seeing Hulls being subbed in and out late in the game. I wasn't watching with 100% focus because I was at work, so seems like that was happening anyways?

I haven't been on the board since the loss but I'll go ahead and throw my two cents out there. I'm a little disappointed, as tough as the Big 10 is these are the games we need to take care of, but not overly disappointed or even that surprised. Minnesota was desperate, and we were bound for a let down. As others have said on here, I think some of us were starting to get a little unrealistic about this team. We're a lot better, and we have/will win games we shouldn't, but then we're going to lose some we shouldn't, too. This is one. Oh well, we move on. The Big 10 is tough.

The Big 10 is tough.
Unranked Iowa rolls #13 Michigan.

Nothing is really going to surprise me this year.
