Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Well, Colts MGMT better hope that Peyton isn't healthy cuz when he gets back to old form they are going to be lambasted.
...and if they kept Manning and traded the first pick they would have had to hope that Luck didn't live up to the hype.
I don't think that's true. If Manning is healthy and gives a team 5 more years, that's 5 years of the best possible chance at a Superbowl you will have (especially when you include the draft picks they would get in return for Luck). Plus plenty of time to find a replacement for Peyton.
Why would a guy with 3-4 years left (maybe) want to stay in a place that is rebuilding and probably wont be a championship caliber team again during his career?

I see it as a win-win. Mannings get to CHOOSE who he will play for and give himself the best chance at another ring. After the injury, Peyton cant expect 28 million up front from any team including the Colts, he's a smart guy. The Colts get to CHOOSE the #1 draft pick to lead what will obviously be a 2-3 years rebuilding process.

My gut feeling is that Peyton will play a couple more years and give it another run at the Superbowl but I have a feeling that he will eventually be roaming the Colts sidelines in some capacity and I think it has probably already been discussed.
One could argue that with a healthy Peyton (which he believes he will be) and several good draft picks the Colts can be Superbowl contenders as early as next year. I mean why not? Everyone here thinks they're a 9 to 10 win team with Peyton last year. So add Peyton, plus 2 first round and 2 second or 3rd round choices plus all the other draft picks and I would think Peyton and the team would be confident they can compete next year.
Rookies typically do not make a difference in their first year. The Colts problems went well beyond Manning being hurt last year.....and if they paid that kind of bonus to him, I HIGHLY doubt that Reggie Wayne would have been back.

This was one of the hardest press conferences I've endured in my 21 years of being in/around athletics. Wow. I'm not even a Colts fan (I do wish them well, own a lot of memorabilia..) but I almost got choked up watching him talk. You could read it in him that the decision STILL shocked him. He did not want to leave Indianapolis.

I don't wish the Colts or Indianapolis any ill will... it's not home states capitol and honestly the Colts are a big reason why the town has continued to drastically increase in population. BUT, being a Manning admirer for YEARS, I DO hope he burns their asses more than once down the road. He's going to be SO hungry and have the biggest chip on his shoulder than anyone I can think of in recent memory. Fuck man, I'm sure that sucked balls to watch for you Colts fan. Hated that.

The Colts and Peyton Manning have a lot to do with the growth of the downtown area over the last 10 years but they have nothing to do with any kind of a population increase.

As a colts fan it's very hard to see him go. I would have loved to keep him and draft Luck but I guess that wasn't in the cards. I will always be a Peyton Manning fan and will root for him wherever he goes.

Interesting that he's in Denver. I'm sure Elway has major credibility with Peyton. Fox loves it 'cause he could get a Hall of Famer.....and the "Tebow is God" crowd in Denver couldn't possibly argue with Peyton over Tim.

If he ends up being a stud, then it can be argued it wasn't a terrible trade, but 2 firsts and a second to move up 4 spots is pretty ridiculous. Like I said though, franchise quarterbacks are invaluable, and if he turns out being one, then I can't knock the trade.

If RG3 becomes an above-average starter for 5 years, I'd do that trade 10 out of 10 times.

How many above-average QBs are there right now? We may have differing opinions of "above-average"

I'm with Bri, although I don't know his definition of above-average. I think there are 5-6 great QBs in this league. If Griffin ends up in that category, I think it's a good trade. If he's just on the outside (7-10), then I think it's debatable. If he's outside the top-10, I think it's a bad trade.

If he stays healthy, however, I think he's going to be really, really good. I know he played at Baylor, but I watched him quite a bit last year, and he throws one of the best deep-balls I've ever seen, outside of myself :D . In all seriousness, he seems very athletic, he's smart as hell, and he was very accurate. Keeping away from the injury bug will define his career, since he likes to run, IMO.

There are 32 starters in the league. The average would be between the 16th and 17th, which means there are 16 above average starters.

Honestly, I don't see how above-average has more than one meaning.

I love RG3...but in the end the Rams gave up two first rounders and second round pick to move up exactly four spots.

BTW, remember the name Nick Foles. He's a quarterback who probably won't get drafted in the first round but has a huge upside. Great size, strong arm. Likely to be a second round guy.

THREE first rounders and a 2nd. This year's first, next year's first, the next years first and this year's second.

By comparison, the Giants gave up the this year's 1st, next year's first and this year's 3rd to essentially move up 3 spots and take Eli Manning #1 overall. The Redskins gave up a whole 1st round pick and 2nd instead of 3rd to do the same thing. That is paying WAY too much.
