My biggest concern with VCU is their press. Someone posted a bunch of quotes from their board, most of them obviously posting with blinders on, and the one that I COULD see being true is concerning us handling their press. From what I'ver heard and read they press hard the whole game. Since we dont have a true point, and seeing how we've handled in pressure situations in prior games, I could see that really hurting us. Do they have any big bodies that can keep Zeller from having an explosive game? I dont think they have the football built front court that NMSU had, which pushed Zeller around a lot. How is VCU at guarding the perimeter? If they lock in on Hulls, it would be nice to set Roth loose on them and see if he can have a huge night. |

We've got size and depth on VCU. And obviously higher shooting percentage, FT%, rebounding margin, 3PT%, and PPG. We're the 4 seed.... you would think THEY were with all the landslide VCU picks. It is what it is. Elston posted on his FB direct quote "Maaaan that's why u can't listen to these Espn "EXPERTS" no one really knows" ... I also shared that VCU forum with the "Beat the Hoosiers" thread, and told him to show the boys and use it as motivation. I'm sure hes given it a peep by now. ZERO respect for what they've done all year. Fucking VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH next to INDIANA UNIVERSITY. Gotta be kidding me. I'm not taking them lightly, but I think everyone is taking us lately, which is not going to bode well for the critics. We won't get any praise if we beat them, and the next talk will be how UK is going to smash us, and end our "nice LUCKY run.." or w/e the jealous ass ESPN commentator will have to say. The Hoosiers are on a war path. We've got 2 HIGH strung coaches that are literally the 2 best motivating head coaches in the field (IMO). It's going to be a good matchup... BUT, we've been playing in the Big Ten all season. We've played the best of the best throughout the year. VCU hasn't had shit. Their weak ass conference negates any OOC games they play. I'm furious at the amount of shit their fans have talked and how cocky they are, and I hope our guys are too. WAR HOOSIERSSSS!!!! :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: |

The guy picked last in gym class

BTW, nine of the fifteen 'experts' at ESPN had Missouri in the final four. Anyway, I really have seen anyone pick on the IU/VCU game besides Hubert Davis picking against IU, although I haven't really seen many picks. Vegas has IU as a 6 point favorite. |

Since the last second rolled off the clock vs NMS, I haven't seen one word spoken about IU, and I've had the NCAA's on 4 different tv's all through the house for 3 days. Granted, it may be a huge coincidence, but I've given up. Maybe we'll get some respect going forward if we can put VCU away, and even so, it may take another IU/UK match up to get some attention. Fuck 'em, bring 'em on, it's been a monumental season for this program already. Edited by Jazen, Mar 17 2012, 03:01 PM.

I really think this game could be Tom Creans biggest potential recruiting tool yet. Win this game and get some national exposure making it to the Sweet 16, while playing Kentucky for the chance to go to the Elite 8. Our story from the last 3 years through this year will have an emotional impact on those recruits thinking about coming here. If they're on the edge, they're going to want to become part of something special, which is exactly what we have again at Indiana, even if ESPN doesn't want to acknowledge it yet. From a PR stand point, it's a great feel good story so this game could have HUGE implications on recruiting! GO HOOSIERS!!! |

I know this has been rehashed already, but the job Crean has done recruiting with the previous state of the program is just absurd. Whether we win tonight or not, I think the recruits will realize what our future looks like. It might help to open up some eyes further around the country, but I think the Midwest realizes what we are about to become (hopefully that is). I'd imagine that's one of the reasons we were able to lock up Fischer from Wisconsin. Regardless, the talent is so good in Indiana, and the surrounding states, I don't envision talented recruits to be one of our shortfalls going forward. |

Good point and I really like how we're recruiting the midwest again. We seemed to have gotten away from that, allowing recruits to go to NC, KY and OSU respectively... It feels good to have locked down the state lines again. |
