Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I would agree with that if he proves to be healthy....unfortunately, game action may be the only way to actually see what he can still do. I hope he fully recovers and has 2-3 more years in him....I'd love to see him get another shot at another ring. I will root for him wherever he may go.....Peyton has been an exceptional player and role model during his career. Good luck Peyton!

Seems to be pretty inconsistent, but what are your thoughts?

He's kind of an enigma. He can be great and he can be supremely frustrating.

Pros
Reliable hands
Gets separation
Makes catches in traffic
Big play ability

Cons
Poor route runner
Doesn't lay out for catchable balls
Not sure he's a true #1
Can't really play the slot. Outside guy only.

I'll direct you to this play from the first 9ers/Giants game. The Giants run a read option passing offense. Receivers have multiple options on every play and they are required to read the defense the same way Manning is reading it so that everyone is one the same play. This is easily the most frustrating thing about Manningham because more than any other NYG receiver, he is not on the same page as Manning. Check this out.

This was a game changing play. He just stopped on his route while Manning thinks he will keep going. This kind of thing constantly happens with Manningham. If he has a designed route to stick to, good as gold. If he has to think on the fly on the field, be prepared for some WTF moments. The Giants would have love to have kept Manningham, but we just can't pay him #1 or #2 money to be our #3 receiver. And really, Manningham probably didn't want to stay to be the #3 when he could go somewhere else and be the #1 or #2. I think there's a decent chance he become your most productive WR next year. I def think he's better than Moss at this point, so it just depends on how Crabtree progresses. I think if you're the 9ers though, you love signing a guy like this. For only 2 years, you wont be hurt that bad if he doesn't meet expectations.

Here is my scouting report on Manningham. Short and sweet. If manning goes to the 49ers he will be a much better receiver.

Thanks

Thanks for the breakdown, Dreach. I appreciate it. I don't think they expect him to be a #1, but with Moss, Manningham, and Crabs they could have 3 #2s....adding in Vernon, and I'm pretty happy with the direction of the team.

I'd have more to say, but I can't focus on the NFL right now!

We have enough heroes.

I don't understand this signing at all. We have Gore, who is still quite productive whom also runs hard and between the tackles. Then, we have Kendall Hunter, a scat-back type player who is our outside threat. I just don't see where Jacobs fits in, barring injuries.

Now that I think about it, he was probably just tired of Willis beating the shit out of him....

When Gore gets hurt you'll be happy you have him. Also a great pass blocker.

No, he probably already has enough jewelry. How many rings can one guy wear?

An "extra" back like that will help keep everyone's legs fresh thru the playoffs....not a bad signing, IMO.
