Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

based on some threads on this board, IU fans expect more out of this team
I honestly haven't seen much mention of IU fans saying we'll go further than the Sweet 16. If they have, I've missed it. Based on This Poll that was started on the board on March 6th, it's clear that most had us either going out in the 2nd round or the Sweet 16.

As you can see in the poll, there are 39 total votes, with 28 of those votes being from the 2nd and out, or the Sweet 16 itself. Granted, there's no way to tell who voted in what category, but below are quotes (in the prediction thread) from definite IU fans. Without naming names here, here are some of the quotes.

Quote:

Its' all about matchups but I think sweet 16 would conclude a satisfying year for most IU fans relative to early year expectations

Quote:

current bracketology would have us against UNC in the sweet 16, which I think we would win at Assembly Hall, but probably not this year on a neutral court

Quote:

Hard to know until I see where we're placed, but have to think this team has a serious shot at the sweet 16

Quote:

All depends on matchups. But based on what we will probably be seeded, I'd say Sweet 16 is a good assumption

Quote:

I'll be tickled-pink if we just win our first round game though, with our inexperience

Quote:

All I care about is that we're actually making the tournament

Quote:

this is a team that won 12 games last year and added one quality freshman. Yes, he's one of the best freshman in the country, but nobody expected him to have this kind of impact. Nor did ANYONE expect them to win more than 18 games

Quote:

IU Poster: somebody picked "championship game"....hell, if you're gonna take em' that far, might as well go all the way whoever you are

Purdue poster: It was me. Sorry

This all being said, I haven't totally followed this thread, so it's possible I'm missing something. I personally voted Sweet 16, and I'm sticking with it. As much as it pains me to say, there's hardly a snowball's chance in hell we beat UK this time around. Been an incredible season, and I won't hang my head for one second.

Next year is when the real expectations arrive.

My friend's cat is still picking Purdue to win the championship. Cats are stupid.

"By all means rag on the "experts" for picking against IU (Although I didn't hear any do that, I didn't listen to any talk about the IU game either.) but you guys are a better team and expect more out of this team than to bust a load about a 4 vs. 13 matchup right? If the hangover from being out of the tourney for a few years is that big then carry on and call me a dumb Purdue poster and I'll go sit with ab man or whatever the fuck his name is."

This is my original statement. I know what I meant by it no matter how many quotes you pull up after the fact. I didn't present it in the best way so if you take it as a bash against IU then I apologize.

I'm not ragging on ya at all, rob, didn't mean it to sound that way. But like I said, I haven't read through all the stuff either so I could have been way off.

Either way man, didn't mean to offend you, and I wouldn't sit with ab, you're I.Q. level would take a massive hit. None of us need that.

I know what you meant too, but you said you would understand the boasting if all the experts did indeed pick against IU. So we proved to you that they did. And then you still bagged on us for boasting with your "congrats on beating the world" comment.

Who cares if another team's fanbase criticizes how we celebrate?

Come and join in song together, shout with might and main. Our beloved Alma Mater, sound her praise again. Gloriana Frangipana, E'er to her be true. She's the pride of Indiana, Hail to Old IU!

That comment was based off of frustration due to you and other posters taken what I said way out of proportion. I agree it was out of line. My apologies.

I wasn't offended by your comment Jaz. My post was to try and mend the argument with Dreach. When it comes to IU fan's expectations I was basing it off of the IU vs Kentucky (what the experts think) thread so maybe I shouldn't have said "threads". Just so you guys don't think I'm saying you are crazy, I think IU should expect to beat Kentucky and can beat them. Do I want them to? Now that's a whole other story ;)

What's the point of being a fan if you expect wins and don't celebrate and have fun? I hate it when people act like sports is a business and not what it really is -- entertainment.
