Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I realize a different thread -- the game thread -- will be pinned tomorrow on game day, but I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on how they think this game will turn out. Both sides, honest opinions/predictions. Not necessarily a "points" prediction, but feel free if you want to post one anyway.

The reason I put "honest" in the topic title was because I know a lot of people won't pick UK over IU no matter what, and that's fine, I completely understand. On the flip side, I realize that there are PU guys that probably wouldn't pick IU over anyone, and that's fine too.

But what I am trying to do is get your unbiased (non homer/non hater) thoughts on how you think this second meeting will unfold, especially with both teams being much improved from our first meeting in December.

-- To start out, I'd give the 'most improved since December award' to Anthony Davis and Kentucky. Not even sure if that's debatable, but feel free to argue if you feel otherwise.

-- Second, I think the revenge factor, or getting even, will play a major role tomorrow night. I have no doubt Calipari would love to blow us out, the UK players would love to blow us out, and most UK fans would sell their first born to blow us out. IMO, getting blown out in a Sweet 16 game would have to be by a margin of no less than 15-20 points. For example, in this situation, I'd say an 85-70 score would qualify as a blowout. Our largest margin of loss this year was on the road vs OSU via 17 points.

Do I think that will happen? No. Do I think they're capable of it against IU in the Sweet 16? Yes. But I think this is where Indiana's resolve and Tom Crean come into play:

-- Going back to how both teams have improved since December, I firmly believe Coach Crean has our boys believing they can win any game they play. While this, IMO, still won't be enough to beat UK, I do believe this will be enough to keep from being rolled. Combining the head smart Zeller, one of the nation's top 3 point shooting teams, Tom Crean's resolve, the basic belief instilled in our team and the subsequent success since December, I'm predicting UK will prevail by 12 or 13.

If I'm wrong, well then, fuck it, it's going to be a fun season of baseball looking forward to the 2012-2013 IU season.

Oh, and just one more thing. This is one of the most unforgettable seasons of IU basketball and one that I will always cherish.

It's been a fun ride.

Perhaps it's because IU won the first time around, perhaps it's because UK lost two weekends ago to Vanderbilt and looked vulnerable leading up to that, or perhaps it's because IU has been on a nice little mojo streak, but..

UK 67

Truth be told, I would love for a B1G team to make it to New Orleans so I have a team to root for. IU being there would be bonus, IMHO.

IU - 66

UK pulling away on free throws at the end.

Gag.

Without looking it up, didn't UK win their last game by 12 (Iowa St.)?

On a positive note, I think IU is better than Iowa St., however, UK is going to go for the throat when they play us. Let's just hope it's a "rattled" effect rather than an effective one.

Agreed. More than likely, I'll be pulling for MSU and/or OSU after tomorrow night.

That said, and although I didn't pick them, I have a strange feeling that Wisky is going to end the run for Syracuse.

No prediction, but how about a game where BOTH teams come out rattled after feeling the pressure from the rematch? I wouldn't be surprised if we see a pretty ugly game tomorrow night.

UK by 12-14

I think it will be close most of, if not the whole way with UK pulling away on free throws at the end.

Then once this happens. I predict Kentucky fans and member of the media who have been hating on IU to point out the final score and say "see I told you so," and complete overlook the fact that IU didn't just get rolled, that it was a a very close game throughout. Just like they have conveniently ignored the fact that IU didn't just somehow hang on and win the first game on a lucky last second shot, but actually played with them, if not outplayed them for most of the game.

I think both teams being rattled would tip the scales in our favor. I'd take another 6 points, 17 minutes from Davis. Another 4 points, 1 rebound from Jones, and another sub par first half from Marquis Teague. All the experts and 99% of UK fans narrowed it down to them simply not showing up, as if IU wasn't even on the floor. It's hard to rattle a player as smart as Zeller, so more than likely we'd have at least him on the floor.

It's not going to happen this time, but I think it may be our only shot at a miracle.

At least Cal gave us a bit of credit.

Quote from Calipari in relation to the Dec. 10th loss to IU:

"They beat us more than the buzzer-beater. We were getting pounded, and the only reason we hung around was Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He gave us a fighting chance. Marquis Teague played well in the second half. Those two gave us a chance, everyone else was missing in action. They took it to every one of our guys. They deserved to win it more than a buzzer-beater. They were the better team on that day. It was no fluke. We got beat."

Then at the end of the interview, in relation to tomorrow night's game, went on to say:

"I'm glad how it's all turned out".

I wonder if he'll be feeding them gunpowder before the start of the game..

I wouldn't be surprised if the freshman nerves catch up to Zeller and he's completely rattled the entire game :D
