Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

What do we do with Yogi next season? We could either let him mature and crack the starting lineup mid season or throw him into the fire. I say we just throw him out there to see how he does. Pull him and make adjustments if needed. Having a true point guard and some depth will help a ton.

We def need to get him experience as soon as possible. He's going to become very valuable during B1G season, and of course our fight with the cats at scruff arena. I know Hulls is supposed to be a point but he seemed to get rattled easily at times and I think with Yogis quickness, it's going to add another dimension to our team.

BTW, congrats to Yogi for winning another state title!

I fell asleep with a few minutes to go, but I think he had 17 points, 12 assists (tied state finals record) and 9 rebounds. Nice way to finish out your season and make your claim for Mr. Basketball.

Today should pretty much wrapped up that award for him. Definitely deserving of it.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Simple answer to what we do with Yogi: play him the minutes that warrant making the team better, same as you do with everyone.

I surmise that will be quite a few. It will be interesting to see how he transitions to playing man-to-man defense, as he's played a zone in high school, but with his quickness and bulldog attitude, I assume he'll be fine in that regard.

Not going to lie; I see minutes hard to come by for Remy next year. No one is talking about the possibility he leaves, but if I was a Vegas person setting the lines, he'd be high up on my list. Not #1, but high on the list.

i agree with you about remy...he has to realize he will most likely never start a game at iu with yogi coming in next year. once hulls leaves, that will go to yogi. ive thought remy could be the guy to leave especially if creek comes back 100%. he could go to a mid-major program or a lower level BCS school and be a starter right away most likely.

Agreed.

For IU though, I don't think he'll ever be good enough offensively to play major minutes at the 2. As far as playing PG duties go, I don't think he'll ever be a good enough ball-handler to warrant quality minutes. Sure, he'll be very good defensively, but there are 2 sides to the game. He works hard, he's a nice kid, but I just don't think he's talented enough to warrant a scholarship for 4 years. If it ends up happening, I assure you I'll root him on every step of the way, but I'm just not sure he'll last all 4 years. I'm not actively rooting for him to be the one to get booted either, and if Watford leaves, it's a moot point.

On a side note, I wonder how much politics play into this. For example, I think he's a better player than Austin, and I'd rather have him on the team talent-wise, but Austin was a factor in getting kids like Cody and others to sign. It would be fascinating to know how much coaches take those things into consideration.

i do know that crean is the type of coach that will tell the kid the truth if he isnt going to get the playing time but thinks he could easily start somewhere. i think if remy is the guy, crean will help him find a school that he'd be able to start for.

No doubt. Like him or not, it's obvious Crean really cares about his players. It's a business and at the end of the day he has to treat it as such, but that won't stop him from helping his players in whatever manner that may entail.

I still think Remy will be an important player on our team. Hulls will be gone after next year, which leaves an opening at PG. Of course, Yogi will start, but, does Yogi stay all 4? Who knows. But even when he comes in, we'll still need a backup PG......

Remy has a college basketball players body AND heart. He really puts in the work necessary. You think he doesn't know he isn't ranked as high as our other guys coming in? That he doesn't have a huge hill to climb to get his minutes? I don't think he's just satisfied that he got to IU. He came IN with Wilmont sized arms, and the strongest legs on the team. My dad was trying to say he doesn't have a spot on the team as well, drove me up the damn wall. A guy that wants to be there just as much as anyone on the team, has played BIG minutes as a "no name" freshman. I'm willing to give a guy like that, that VERY much so passes the "eye test", and that puts God first, a fighting chance.

If anything, AE is the clear bet that doesn't fit in the puzzle. More so than Remy, at least. Hence why he hasn't played a lick this season. I.E. He's not too valuable to our team winning NOW..... when Remy HAD to be played for us to have a shot in some games. It's the truth.

i totally agree with you...im not saying i think remy should be the one to go. im just saying i think he might be the one to go. i def think AE should be the one to go but like obat said earlier, will crean keep him because he helped recruit those other guys to iu. plus i also think remy will have a better upside by going somehwere that he can start for 2-3 years rather than sit on bench for another 2-3 years.

Hulls hasn't even been playing the point lately so I'm not sure what all this talk is about replacing hulls, he's already been replaced by victor...not that hulls won't play the point at times, but he wasn't playing the point much toward the end of the Big season...he still creates and has the ball in his hands but victor has been bringing the ball up and reset the O more than hulls has when they've been in at the same time...I see hulls running around off the ball getting open shots next year and creating off the dribble...that's what I want to see anyway

Hulls isn't a true PG...that is why need Yogi so much. The one thing I don't like about Yogis is his size, and that is where Remy comes in. I think he has NBA level size. He will be good when matching up against a team like VCU because of his ability to see over the screens. Next year I think Hulls' role changes. We should run him off some screens and run the point at times. Having 2 floor general's will help. I only think he leaves because he wants to be the starter. AE on the other hand won't ever get much minutes. I hate to see anybody leave this team, but if its anybody it'll be AE. Can't the NCAA just increase the scholly's to 15?
