Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

If he had any respect for himself, his wife, the young woman, or the university he would resign.

I don't think they will fire him. THe thing that might be the determining factor is if she got the job only because of their relationship and wasn't otherwise qualified. From what I have heard, that isn't the case. One of the local media guys up there the other day said that she was thought of as a rising star inside the athletic department and was in fact qualified for the position she was hired for.
Honestly, most people around here don't want him gone. And if he is fired it will be an unpopular move. I guess we will see.

Dreachon if you aren't gonna root for athletes and/or coaches who have cheated on their spouses then you probably just better stop watching sports.

Yeah yeah. I can at least choose to stop rooting for the ones that are proven cheaters.

I never even thought about whether she was qualified. I assumed she was and the relationship started after the hire. While it would certainly be worse if they already were fooling around and she wasn't qualified.......what he did is clearly bad enough to warrant firing. He lied to his superiors about the incident...which involved a female subordinate that he hired and was having an affair with. I mean, whether she was qualified or not doesn't really add too many bricks to the already unstable stack.

IMO if he's not fired it's because he's got the team ready to contend. After all, it's the SEC.

Fired, not fired. I am kind of apathetic.

I will tell you that the sentiment in the local media is that unless it is found she was hired simply because she had a relationship with Petrino he probably won't be fired, although who really knows.

As you said, it is the SEC, and winning means a lot. I can tell you the fan base is resoundingly on his side.Which is incredibly funny considering when the news came out the Houston Nutt might have been having an affair with a local reporter people went ape shit about it.
Funny what some winning will do to your perceptions.

With the way he's turned around the program, that's a bold decision. Congrats to Arkansas for putting morals above winning though.

I agree. And judging by reaction on the radio and local news stories online and facebook, it isn't a popular move.

You know who the real loser is? Gus Malzahn. If he would have just stuck with Auburn for the off season the job would be his for the taking.

After a bit of research, why can't he leave Arkansas State?

Well he certainly could, but he doesn't strike me as the type that would leave before the beginning of his first season.

Especially not considering the fact that a big part of the reason he took the job in the first place is because he is friends with the athletic director.

Obviously didn't know that about them being friends. Still, it would be virtually impossible to take the State off Arkansas if given the opportunity...
