From the Wiki link: Police had been called to The Retreat at Twin Lakes 402 times from January 1, 2011, to February 26, 2012.[53] Zimmerman was the caller on 11 of those calls in that time frame. Crimes committed at The Retreat in the year prior to Martin's death included eight burglaries, nine thefts, dozens of break-ins (at least one with a woman and infant upstairs) and one shooting. In September, Zimmerman was asked to head up a neighborhood watch. [53] The City of Sanford posted a "George Zimmerman 911 Call History" listing 46 calls by him between 2004 and the 2012 shooting. To those who think gz's actions were totally unjustified, how many crimes have you had in your neighborhood in the last year?
I just checked the Tulsa Crime maps, and for 2012 in the square mile block around my house there were 14 Burgulary 4 Auto Thefts 38 cases of Larceny 2 Rapes 2 Aggravated Assualts 6 vandalism calls These are actual crime reports generated. No idea on the number of calls generated by them, but easily comparable to the number of reported crimes you listed. And Oklahoma is a concealed carry state. Not sure carrying guns has any affect on the crime rates. **edit** Open carry as of Nov 1st this year. How do you check this?
If I lived in a neighborhood with a bunch of crime, that would give me MORE reason NOT to follow a random stranger at night. And even more reason to identify myself and tell the person I have called the police.

It is usually accessible through the police department website.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

Ok. I can only view 4 months worth of data at a time, so I'm just going to take one 4 month segment and times by 3 to get a full year.
6 Burglaries 12 Auto Thefts 36 Larceny
These numbers only include the area directly north and east of me. I live on the county line so the areas south and west of me report to a different county.

I don't have a problem with the law. I just think the law should apply to Trayvon, who was threatened by a man chasing him in the rain at night. When Trayvon kicks his ass, I think he's using Stand Your Ground to do that. And that means Zimmerman still doesn't have the right to shoot Trayvon.
is your stance still contingent upon GZ's "double back" story being false?
Yeah. that's fair.
This is the part that I am struggling with though. I have said previously that I believe Trayvon would have no problem getting away from GZ on foot if he wanted to. That still doesn't mean, necessarily, that he doubled back, but how do you honestly think the physical confrontation went down?

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I want to get a golf cart, but the wife won't let me. ^o) honestly, in terms of "toys" it's the best investment we ever made. $2,200 with a rear seat, and we use it nearly every single day. When you live in the country like me,it's not that easy to just get out and walk to a park or neighbors house. We run the dogs with it, load fishing gear and head down to a pond, hit up the school park, or just take a ride to calm my little one (9 months old) down. I have a 4-wheeler also, and it rarely comes out of the barn....golf cart has taken over....even my wife loves it!

My uncle had one of those. Nothing fancy, but a good place to go to fish (back when I thought that was fun), play horseshoes, underage drinking/campfires/parties on occasion.

That still doesn't mean, necessarily, that he doubled back, but how do you honestly think the physical confrontation went down? Honestly, given that Zimmerman lives in the neighborhood and Martin didn't, I think Zimmerman probably guessed where Martin would emerge from after he ran. It's a gated community, so there are only a few places where Martin could have ended up. I think Zimmerman either managed to cut him off, or kept walking around and they just ran into each other again. I certainly don't think Zimmerman chased him down.

I should google earth the neighborhood. I'm having a tough time envisioning a neighborhood that you have to "emerge" when running away. It seems like he could just keep bolting through backyards or whatever until he made it to his dads girlfriends home.
