Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I didn't even read any of the article, there seems to be several nice maps to reference that also mark key points of interest

Nice link. A lot of assumptions in his posts as he goes and corrects what he said previously multiple times. Zimmerman's lawyers better study that map and make sure whatever version of events they're going with has Zimmerman being jumped from behind while walking back to his truck. Personally, I think the photo evidence of the flashlight could be an indication that Zimmerman continued to look for Martin after the 911 call was over and those maps make it very easy to see how he could have cut Martin off.

You can obviously see how Zimmerman was knocked on concrete, but still managed to shoot Martin in the grass. That was a point of question for several posters here.

more than one confrontation could have occurred, and moved slightly into the grass, who knows. the map does clearly show the concrete path down the back of the town homes, so that does clear that up and paints a more visible picture.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A year before he shot Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman criticized Sanford, Fla., police as lazy, saying at a public forum that he saw “disgusting” behavior by officers on ride-alongs.

He also contended the department covered up the beating of a black homeless man by the son of a white officer.

Gives credence to Zimmerman not being racist and to the terrible job by Sanford police in not arresting him.

This is what Vinnie Politan said on facebook today (I happen to agree):

Quote:

here is George Zimmerman's real problem... a stand your ground motion will be decided by the same Judge who found that GZ misled the court at his bond hearing. Stand your ground is predicated upon GZ's credibility... why should this judge now take GZ at his word? This was a MAJOR blunder by GZ...

It definitely leads to credibility issues. There are two people who know exactly what happened; one is dead, and the other has already lied to the court.

Ever since this story came out in the media, it has been unbelievable to me that the police just took GZ's word for what happened that night and sent him home. I heard on one of the news programs that the police chief at the time was stating they didn't have probable cause to make an arrest. I could not believe my own ears - one person (regardless of age) is not only dead but also unarmed? Shot by another person with a gun? What else do they need?

After hearing about the lies in court today, I feel even stronger about this. If you can lie in court, you certainly wouldn't have a problem with lying to the police about what happened. Remember, GZ had everything to gain on making himself "look better" in the eyes of the police.

will it matter what the judge personally thinks about GZ? This will obviously be a jury trial right?

There will be a stand your ground hearing, to see if the case should go to trial.
