Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I didn't watch the interview, but in reading the article it doesn't seem to be a lot of new information. It is the 1st time I have heard GZ say that Martin was going for GZ's gun though.

As anyone would/should.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

It is the 1st time I have heard GZ say that Martin was going for GZ's gun though.
There was a video released of Martin being interviewed by police the day after where Zimmerman said Martin saw his gun and said, "You're going to die tonight motherfucker" as he reached for the gun.

[utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55l2Dj6AeFY&noredirect=1[/utube]

If I were to try and psychoanalyze the video, I would point out that Zimmerman talks fast up until the point where he talks about Martin grabbing for the gun where he starts to second guess himself. People tend to talk fast when they know facts and slower when they're lying or unsure. To me, I'd say he exaggerated a bit, but the fact that we see the clear difference makes his story up to that point more convincing.

Considering that the shooter was a convicted felon who recently got out after serving two years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious felon, I don't think there is that much comparison.

you really dont think that they are going to use the 13 yr olds record and say it was a self defense? Pretty much all they can use

The kid's record certainly isn't comparable to the shooter's record. He already had a six year sentence for possession of a firearm by a violent felon. Even if the shooting was self defense -- don't know if it was or wasn't -- but you would think this would have to be at least his third felony. The possession of the firearm alone is enough to put him behind bars for a very long time.....he would now be a felon who then have repeated offense firearm possession.

I just heard on the radio that Zimmerman is on the verge of having his case dismissed. According to the report I heard the defense has submitted evidence that somehow clearly shows that he was operating in self-defense under the Florida law. I am traveling so I have no link at this time but I thought I would pass this along.

Way overstated. Zimmerman has simply requested a hearing to have the 2nd degree murder charges dismissed under the 'stand your ground' law. This will not happen anytime soon would be my guess, and it is more of a pre-trial, and will cover the same evidence the prosecutors and defense will use in the trial(if it happens). The judge at that point can dismaiss the charges before it goes to trial if he feels so compelled.

Hearing likely would not take place for several months.

Isn't there something in the constitution about speedy trials? Big pet peeve of mine is how long the prosecution and defense drag this out.
