Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Seriously
One thing would have made it stop from the beginning: one person owning up to misrepresenting what someone else said. That still didn't do that....only said 'well others (read: Colt) did that as well'.

Three words would have solved it from the beginning: "I was incorrect" or "I was wrong".

I quoted his exact words. I can't help it that he misspoke.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

You can. Just press that "x" at the upper right corner.
From where I sit, your efforts would be better utilized responding to the questions posed to you.

But I also thought Dreach would have just bailed by now.

Honestly, with his initial accusation I thought he was joking. You are right that I should have bailed by now, but the ridiculousness with which he makes his claims sucked me in. Now I just "misspoke". Of course.

Dreach let me clear this up also. If the alternative story is true where GZ followed TM and eventually caught up to him and confronted him, does TM have a right to stand his ground and use potentially deadly force to GZ?

Define potentially deadly force. I don't consider punching someone to be using deadly force and I don't believe he was smashing Zimmerman's head into the ground.

Remember this is a scenario where TM didn't double back, rather GZ caught up somehow and confronted TM. How about each of these individually
Does TM have the right to:
1) punch GZ?
2) pin him down and punch him repeatedly in the face?
3) slam his head on the ground?

I believe, if I'm reading the law correctly, that yes the law does give Martin the right to defend himself with deadly force. I think Zimmerman's actions were irresponsible enough that they could have made Martin fear for his life. I personally would not use deadly force unless it was absolutely necessary.

This is where your bias creates a pretty big inconcistency. In your own words in the last 2 hours, you don't believe GZ had a right to use deadly force if TM doubled back and co fronted him unless his entire scenario were true where his head was getting slammed. Then in the same conversation you claim that TM did have the right to use deadly force when being followed and confronted.

Why would GZ not be given those same rights if TM did double back and confront him. Why does he have to have his head slammed into the ground before he gets thise rights? Was GZ supposed to assume TM just wanted to share his skittles?

According to the eye witness, TM was on top straddling GZ, and pummeling his head MMA style. That, IMO, is a life threatening situation w/ or w/o any head slamming.

Quote:

The only scenario I can see that condemns Martin is the same one as Zimmerman's story. If Zimmerman was walking back to his truck or waiting at his truck and Martin ambushed him, then I think Zimmerman's right to defend himself has been restored

Seriously why don't you guys follow the trial instead of arguing about what eachother said in the past... Obviously the trial is evolving and more information and PROFESSIONAlL opinion is coming to light... Medical examiner testifies GZs injuries to the back of his head are consistent with only being slammed to the ground once... The only thing debatable in this entire thing is if its worth a 2nd degree murder charge or not
