Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I say soda - that's what I learned in school and that's what I say when I am here. In Norway, it is called "brus". :)

If you believe that people shouldn't own guns, and they just cause more problems, in general, then you want to make an example of Zimmerman, and lock him up for a long time. If you believe people have a right to carry a gun, and they act as a deterrent to crime, you are more sympathetic to him. I think people's personal opinions about gun ownership is driving their take on this issue.

I'm going to wait until all of the evidence is presented before deciding on what the "fair" punishment should be. My guess is he will do some jail time for manslaughter, and doubt if second degree murder will be proven by the prosecution.

Not sure it's as much trying to make an example of him or use this tragedy to push a political point as it is wanting justice for a 17 year old kid shot to death by a wannabe cop. My personal opinions on guns hasnt factored into my stance on this particular incident.

That wouldn't surprise me at all.

Mine either. As a matter of fact, I despise guns, almost makes me sick to my stomach to see one in person.

I don't have a stance on gun laws one way or another, but I don't want to be anywhere near one.

That said, if my house was broken into in the middle of the night, I'd have no qualms beating the fucker to death with a baseball bat.

Hadn't thought about gun policies and stances. I wonder if even pro-gun people would view Zimmerman's action as a responsible way to own a firearm.

Wouldn't doubt it a bit, Brum. I cannot imagine the aftermath.

It's obviously going to quiet down now pending his trial, but if he walks, it may be a scary time across the U.S.

Ok, Mongo, let's assume you are the judge and jury. Given the current known facts about this case, what's the correct justice for Trevon?

Same question for everyone else.

I'm clearly pro-gun. If he used the gun as a tool to intimidate, hunt down, and kill another person, that is not a responsible gun owner. If he used his gun as a last resort to kill someone in self defense, that is being a responsible gun owner.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I still have a hard time seeing where a teenage boy walking down the street turns into self defense for Zimmerman.
