Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

So now, after a club can't compete for their homegrown superstar, these contracts aren't allowed anymore? It would have been nice if you would have rejected that stuff a few months ago....kinda weird.

For the record, I don't know if that would have made the difference and don't care enough to look into it. As I've stated before, even as a lifelong Cards fan and a Pujols fan, I am glad the organization didn't commit to that kind of money even for the hometown hero. I just think that it is pretty shitty for it to not be allowed anymore when one of the games best players just left his hometown a few months ago. Again, I'm not saying that was the deal breaker.....just seems like weird timing to "change the rules" or close a loophole.

Part of the reason that teams put these clauses in is that it circumnavigates the luxury tax by keeping their player payroll lower.

I understand that...seems weird to block it after you got the face of your league to 1 of the top 2 TV markets. Its not like it a brand new problem, they had time to change this rule before now is all I'm saying.
