Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

My wife and her family (from Europe), obviously seem to think so, but I'm not so sure. Is it fair to compare all sports to one another if most countries on the planet play soccer but hardly anything else? At least professionally? Even at the college level, most of her family has never witnessed a college game in any sport, let alone half the sports (at any level) in this country, and probably others.

Anyway, I'm not so sure how you would gauge it without this being an apples to oranges argument. I've gave it my all over the last decade to try and "like" soccer, but it just isn't happening.

Yes and it's really not close. The cash payouts for winning championships in soccer is ginormous. I believe cricket, baseball, tennis, and basketball follow in terms of money, fans, viewership, and participants.

Was looking a few things up:

Forbes: "Soccer attracts more corporate money than any other sport in the world"

On another note: Manchester United star Wayne Rooney called it as he saw it during Super Bowl XLVI, tweeting “Trying to watch super bowl final. How do they call this football. Like watching paint dry. Looking forward to adverts and music.”

Funny, that's exactly how I see soccer.

I get the feeling the NFL is becoming very well-known. Its become common small-talk when I'm in Europe for people to ask if I'm a Peyton Manning fan. The Super Bowl is also easily one of the top 5 global events.

Yes it is. In terms of money I believe Formula One may actually pay out the most. But soccer is def the most popular sport and everything else is such a distant 2nd it's actually pretty remarkable.
