Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Still can't believe that goal by Morgan. Highlights and post-game interviews gave me chills after the fact.

Might take off Thursday afternoon for the final. Gonna be awesome.

Pressuring the ball is the key for our defense. Gotta do it for 94 feet all game long. If that gets done, nobody can beat us or come close really.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Ho. Ly. Shit. the only part of this game I saw was the Wambach tie up. The call against the goalie leading up to it was unbelievably bad. So happy they pulled it out!

Yeah, it was a bullshit call. We'd be livid if that call potentially cost us the game. Plus, I've always liked Canada, so I hated to see them get screwed like that.

What about the handball that let to the PK. Do you think that was a good call or not? If they don't intend to use their arms, it's not illegal, right?

It's not only intent, it's position. if the arm is in an "unnatural" position, intent doesn't matter. I think the handball call was a good one because it actually hit 2 different defender's hands. I mean you can maybe let 1 slide, but both? Na. The problem is that it never should have gotten there. When is the last time I saw a call against the goalie for taking too long? When I played in middle school. That NEVER gets called and even if it's close I would expect the ref to give her a warning first. To just flat out call it is simply unheard of.

I feel just a bit better about it though because just after the goal Alex Morgan got taken down in the box for what should have been a penalty kick. they didn't call it though because they had literally just given the US a penalty kick. So it pretty much evened out.

That all makes sense, and I was thinking about the intent as well when I watched it. I don't think either really intended to (you're not far from a ball getting blasted toward your face (TWSS), but with the fact it hit two, that was odd.

Also, I certainly think Morgan's would have been called had the previous one not occurred.

Yeah. No intent. But the 2nd girl definitely had her arm away from her body. If she has it in tight I think that ball gets through with maybe a slight deflection. Have to call it. I'm still amazed at the highest level that people turn their bodies. One thing I was taught from very young is that you never turn away.

1) going sideways means you are covering less area
2) you can't see the ball or where it deflects to
3) open yourself up to handballs
4) just man up and take it. One hand covering the crotch, the other plastered across the chest. That's how we always did it.

I also think we definitely get the call if they hadn't just given us the penalty kick. No question.

I had a friend in high school that took one to the chops and really fucked up his face; broken nose among other things. It definitely made him a little gun shy and I can understand that. I'm not going to get upset (especially a girl) shying away a bit from that. Soccer balls aren't that light and they kick them amazingly hard.

I get what you're saying, and I would want my players to do what you said, but I can see it from the other side of the fence as well.

Back to what you said earlier today...time for some vengeance! We're going to need to bring it. We're a lot bigger and physical than Japan, but they're pretty smooth with the ball and can play some great possession style soccer. Remind me a bit of the way Spain's men play. I'll find out sooner or later, but have you heard what time the final is Thursday?
