Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Speaking of Alex Morgan, I don't think I realized until today how good she is. When she gets the ball in the open, no one takes the ball from her. She is as adept at dribbling as any girl I've seen and she's probably the fastest player we have. She's just damn good, especially considering her age. Even when she's not scoring, she is wreaking havoc on the defense. Her looks don't hurt here, but she's going to be an absolute joy to watch the next several years.
It's tough, especially in soccer, to not be the the goal scorer and still get recognized as a great player. Morgan has been the goal scorer for this team coming into the Olympics, but in this tournament she really displayed her all around skill set. She is absolutely deadly with the ball and her brilliance has led to some extremely easy goals for the US. An absolutely fantastic tournament for her.

How about the men's 4X400 relay team. They didn't win gold, but they got into the finals after a rash of injuries, including Manteo Mitchell running the qualifying heat with a broken leg throughout half of his run. Ended up winning silver....pretty cool story though.

The 4x100 race was pretty exciting. Blake really made up a lot of ground. Americans and Jamaicans finish about 1.2 light years ahead of the field.

I was just getting ready to get on here and congratulate you. Us Americans are spoiled when it comes to Olympics...winning gold is nothing new.

For some countries though, it's a HUGE deal! Seeing the runner win gold from Grenada (first ever medal I believe) was cool...and seeing the fans react was even cooler. Anyways, congrats again to you guys. That's awesome! Did you celebrate like Jaz did when IU beat UK last year?

Haha - I was trying to be a little careful. We had to watch it in the kitchen, my son had found a working stream on his laptop, AND the windows were open so...I had to try and act sivilized. But I was just as crazy on the inside, trust me. ;)

Very interesting to know....

“When people ask me about Bolt, I say he could be the greatest athlete of all time,” Carl Lewis told the Times of London. “But for someone to run 10.03 one year and 9.69 the next, if you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool. Period.”

Jamaica’s Yohan Blake, who just won the silver in the 100 and 200, tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug prior to the 2009 World Championships. Teammates Julian Dunkley and Steve Mullings have also been caught doping.

Bolt reportedly has been working with Angel Hernandez, too. Hernandez used to be called Angel Heredia, back when he was a chemist for BALCO and later “Source A,” who supplied the documents that helped convict Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery, C.J. Hunter and Justin Gatlin. Gatlin just took bronze in the 100, behind Bolt and Blake.
Before the games in Beijing, Heredia told Germany’s Der Spiegel that, regarding the 100-meter final, “the winner will not be clean. Not even any of the contestants will be clean. There is no doubt about it, the difference between 10.0 and 9.7 seconds is the drugs.”

Usain Bolt went on to win that final with a time of 9.69.

Responding to BALCO owner Victor Conte’s assertion that 60 percent of London competitors were using PEDs, Pound admitted “He is probably more likely to know than we are. I hope it is not 60 percent, but it is certainly a lot more than we are catching.”

Bolt never ran the 100 meters in meets until 2007. Its a completely difference race than the 200, so it makes sense that if he was looking to peak at the 2008 Olympics, his times prior were not going to be as good. Your starts are different, the technique is different, etc. Plus, you want to run your best times in 2008, not 2007, so your training is built for that.

Also, its not like he just came out of nowhere in the sprinting world. He has the 200 WR at the ages of 15-18. His era of Jamaican runners set world junior records in both the 4x1 and 4x4. He was also injured a lot early in his career, was never really known as a hard worker, and it takes time to learn how to carry that 6'5 frame over those short distances.

I hope he isn't doping, that would be a major blow to world track and field, a sport that can't afford that bad of a hit. Carl Lewis should just shut his mouth, because he was in the same spot as Bolt. He ran at a time of a lot of doping also.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Listen to the people who know.....I'm just reporting what I read. Considering the possible training arrangement AND what he said.....seems kinda funny.

“He is probably more likely to know than we are. I hope it is not 60 percent, but it is certainly a lot more than we are catching.”

You decide.
