Same here. The Tennesse/California game was incredible. That said, I was pulling for Tenn all the way. |

California had a 6'3", 185 lb 13 year old, and Japan had the equivalent of a younger (but almost as big) Babe Ruth. IMO, the homerun fence needs to be moved back about 20 feet and raised about 5 more feet - way too many homeruns. The talent at this level is incredible, the outfielders hardly get a chance to show it. |

...yeah, they had their coach on the radio like every day down here...he seemed like a really good guy...he told a story about how when they first arrived in Williamsport and he asked the groundskeepers if he could take his center fielder out on the field and take a picture...he said the kid (and himself) were just in awe of the size...kind of reminded me of Hoosiers when Coach Dale takes his team out on that court for the first time... |

The Uganda story (shown between Saturday's games) was incredible. When interviewed, they said the biggest difference between them playing at home and playing here in the U.S. was that the ground was flat, and the ball didn't bounce in all different directions when hit. It showed them when they first arrived and the groundskeeper turned Lamade's lights on (nobody was playing) so they could see the field from behind the homerun fence. I even saw tears in some of their eyes. What a great story. Edited by Jazen, Aug 27 2012, 02:44 PM.

My comments were for the Indiana team. I think I heard them say that the team faced elimination 7 times on their way to the World Series. Bottom line is that it was amazing that they were there, after their top 4 hitters, they were very weak....just being honest. Seemed to me that when they got to the point of facing good pitching (few walks), there weakness showed itself. They were light on size, pitching, and the bottom half of the batting order was pretty weak in comparison to the other teams there. It was a hell of an achievement for that team to even be there. Imagine them playing Japan....it would have been a no-hit embarrassment. They would have gotten run ruled, no doubt. |
