Trey Lyles held a small, invite-only press conference Friday to discuss his plans after his de-commitment from Indiana. The highly-rated Tech forward reiterated that Indiana is at the top of his list, that IU will continue recruiting him and that he plans to take an unofficial visit to Bloomington soon, but he also said he will take his time with recruiting and look for the school that can best prepare him for the NBA. might have been posted already, if so sorry. |

I'm not believing IU is at the top of his list. |

He said 'best prepare him for the NBA'? He's going to Kentucky. |

I vote for NOT recruiting kids who think the are already in the NBA by the time they are 16-17. He "wants" to go to college about as badly as my dog. |

Well, since we're voting. I vote FOR recruiting kids who can help you win a national championship, even if they only stay 1 year. |

I'll watch regardless if we have 1 and dones or not. I am just saying that I hope Crean doesn't waste a lot of time on some of these kids. Make the offer, let them know how bad you want them, let them know what u think u can do for them, and let the cards fall where they may. I am not saying that I never want a kid who may leave early, I just dont want 2 or 3 leaving early every year. I love college basketball and part of that is watching players mature over a couple of seasons. Its just my preference. |

Agreed. I don't want a team full of one and dones, but a strategic prospect here and there (like Gordon or Lyles) I am all for. |

Considering what Crean has had to do to get the program back on solid footing (academics included), imo it would be crazy to risk scrutiny with a bunch of players who dont intend on going to class, pr partying, etc...when that could hurt the program in the future. I dont claim to know exactly how all of that works but I assume that hard work by many boys and a coaching staff could be set back by a couple recruits who are there for all the wrong reasons. I dont want our program to ever be back to where it was a few short years ago, I trust that Coach Crean would never let that happen. Edited by IUCOLTFAN, Aug 16 2012, 02:19 PM.

He is one of the recruits that would get us over the top. If he doesn't believe IU would prepare him for the NBA then he's crazy. Make sure he knows we really want him, and leave it at that. If he needs us to kiss hiss ass and let him know he is wanted then he might as well go elsewhere. |

Maybe he wants a school that will prepare his bank account for what he can expect in the NBA |
![]() The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism. | |

Hmmm. Hadn't thought about cash. I figure most schools can only afford the Fiesta, but UK probably shells out for the Fiesta Max. If I were a recruit, that'd be good enough for me. |
