Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

The idea that you can make a determination about whether this team will win come March because of last night's game is silly. Now they indeed may not win, after all the odds are against them, but to say they won't or can't is incredibly shortsighted.

2012 Champ - Kentucky - Lost their last game before the tournament to fucking Vanderbilt
2011 Champ - UConn - Was .500 in the Big East with just 1 road victory over a ranked team that year
2010 Champ - Duke - good resume, not much to complain about there
2009 Champ - UNC - lost their last game of the season before the tourney and had losses to unranked Maryland and unranked Boston College (at home) along the way

This year especially, no single team has separated themselves as the clear cut best team int he country, which really makes it even crazier to say IU can't win it all. They have as good a shot as anybody. If you can't see that, than you have a severe underappreciation for what this team is and what they have accomplished.
I didn't base my assessment on just last nights game and you know it.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

and to add to that...we are prolly one of the only top 10 teams that has not been embarrassed with a bad loss/blowout loss. Most of the top teams have been embarrassed by a team that was absolutely terrible. IU has not had that. All of our losses have been to quality teams/teams that will make the tourney.
So the teams that beat us are the types of teams that we will see in the tourney.....oh, now I feel better.

The weirdest part of this conversation is that looking back, I think we had the capability to win it all LAST YEAR. I'm certainly not about to say we won't win it this year.

+1.

The problem with the type of post saying 'why we won't win the national championship' if even if we were head and shoulders better than everyone, you can make that statement and have a pretty good shot at being correct.

And the response to Dreach's was laughable. Can you tell me exactly what team this year hasn't lost to the 'type of teams they'll see in the tournament'? Seems to me that we have beaten more tournament teams than about anyone AND we've beaten more teams that are likely to be 1-4 seeds than anyone. We've already notched two wins against Michigan State (one on the road), Ohio State (on the road), Georgetown (neutral court), and Michigan. What team has matched that?

It's a complete myth that teams that finish the regular season hot are the ones to look out for.

Remember the final four VCU team? They lost four of their last five regular season games to 'monster powers' of George Mason, Old Dominion, Drexel, and James Madison. They were one of the last two teams to get an at large bid and had to play in the play in game.

They follow that up last year by winning 18 of 19 games (with the only loss being by a single point) before they lost to us in the round of 32.

I never said anything about being hot or cold. I pointed out some fundamental flaws that we don't seem to be addressing and opponents are exploiting.

I would stop the arguing. No one is listening. Everyone has their own point of view and some get respected and others don't. I think we should respect everyone's opinion without ridicule.

I have my perspective, you have your perspective. Who cares. At the end of the day we are all IU fans and we hope they get to the final 4 and win the National Championship. But we all know it depends on the draw and seeding, etc. Matchups play a big role and we are many teams matchup nigthmare and there are some teams that we don't matchup well with.

Please, let's all stop the madness.

'I am as frustrated with this team as I have been with any team in any sport ever.'

JMO, but I would hate my life if I were this guy!!! If 25-5 and B10 champs make you so frustrated, just do something else besides watching sports; perhaps walks on the beach or a good book.

I, for one, am thrilled with our season and look forward to the tournament.
