Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

They are saying now that IU will be a number 1 seed but if Louisville wins, they will slip into the number 1 seed in the Midwest. FUCK!!!!!
pretty sure that's not correct.

rumors say Mike Bobinski says 1 team has a lock on the #1 and there are 5 teams in play for the other 3. If it's truly based off body of work (wins), RPI, and SOS than IU is the team that has the #1 locked up. period.
Gonzaga has a one seed locked.

heck...ship us out west as a 2. match-up wise i'd rather have that than several other elite 8 potential draws.

I'm not all that big on the conference tournaments. It's fine and all, but I've lived most of my life without it. Obviously it gives certain teams a chance to get into the big dance, but when you're already a lock to get in, it really doesn't mean that much in the big picture.

That said, I would have loved to beat Wisconsin just for the Hell of it, but I'm ready for the real thing. Let's get this shit on the road.
i'm trying to take that sentiment forward.

but sitting here working in a madison coffee shop...well...it's still a bit grating at the moment...

:goiu:
I know what you mean. I live too close to Kentucky and basically have to deal with them AND the bandwagon jumpers every season.

We're fine, this IU team is gonna go deep this year. The real "hurt" comes from a final four or a national title loss. I've seen both so the loss today was virtually moot.

But fuck Wisky anyway, tired of getting beat by them.

Positives: We don't have to play Wisconsin or any other Big Teams this year unless we meet late in the tourney. We also are still a 1 seed. They just have our number. Nothing to get too worked up about.

I disagree. I think the team they are talking about is Gonzaga in the West.

It's not the end of the world, especially since we should be in good shape for a one seed still, but this is getting a little ridiculous. A little frustrated that crean hasn't figured Wisconsin out.

i love crean. but i don't think he has any idea how to play wisky.

suggest he visit his buddy izzo this summer and take some notes.
Maybe Bo should see Crean about how to beat Michigan State. Win-win situation.

not even close to the end of the world. this team will always have been judged by their position on April 8th.

Not November 8th.
Not February 8th.
Not March 8th.

Yeah agreed. Bottom line: big ten regular season championship> big ten tournament championship > those uniforms

Yeah, that would suck. Hard to argue though, Louisville is on fire.
I dunno, splitting the Big East championship with 3 teams just isn't as impressive to me as winning the Big Ten outright.
Marquee Wins:

Indiana:
-MSU (x2)
-OSU
-UM (x2)
-Georgetown (neutral)

Louisville:
-Marquette
-Syracuse
-Notre Dame (x2)
I think including wins against Notre Dame as marquee is pretty generous.

They did beat Pittsburgh, whom I think is better than Notre Dame.

Ken Pom top wins by each:

Indiana
#6 Ohio State
#10 Michigan State
#10 Michigan State
#11 Michigan
#11 Michigan
#12 Georgetown

Louisville
#7 Pittsburgh
#13 Syracuse
#17 Missouri

IMO, the marquee wins aren't close. To me it also says something that Indiana finished with a better record in a conference that is better than the Big East.

FWIW, Lunardi's update as of an hour ago has IU as #1 in the Midwest, Louisville #1 in the East and Duke #1 in the South.

Sometimes this team boggles my mind. They can beat teams like Michigan, and Mich St without any problems, but a team like Wisky who will be lucky to make it passed the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney gives the problems. We'll be fine just as long as we don't play Wisky. Our biggest problems were rebounding, VO making bad decisions, and getting half of our shots blocked. Hulls worries me. If he stays this cold then we're in trouble.
The real reason Wisconsin always beats IU is that they play really big lineups, and IU has played small against them. If IU played them again (they won't), I think you have to start Sheehey with Zeller and Watford just to counter their lineup. Conceding offensive rebounds was and will always be killer.

At the end of the day, doesn't really matter. An extra day off and a certain #1 seed.
I'd have to agree with you. They're not much bigger, but the seem to play bigger. Playing two 6' guards hurt us. Watford could have rebounded better too. It'll be interesting to see how we play in 2014 and 2015 with all players that Crean recruited. Right now we don't have any depth at the 4 and the 5. That being said I don't think there is anybody that plays the tempo that Wisky plays, that gives us so much trouble.
Butler. You all know how the committee likes to fuck with us. I wouldn't put it past them to put Wisky and Butler in our bracket.

I'm already up and pumped! Tried to sleep in but couldn't...

Keys to this game for Indiana:

1) Blocking out and rebounding: Obvious, but we cannot give them ANY extra possessions. Lets them drain another 30+ seconds off. Rebounding seems to have been our weakness in a least a couple of our losses. Very crucial today.

2) Continued productivity from the bench: We need "Good Will Sheehey" to be there each game, and Hollowell to bring energy from the outset when he comes in. Any other bench production is gravy, IMO. We need to neutralize (if not better) Wisconsin's bench production.

3) Hopefully Hulls' shot is going down today, and he got the bad BTT shooting game behind him. Obvious, but when we get opportunities, must hit open shots.

4) No freaking zone. Play good, tough M2M. Zone could potentially give them really good looks at 3's.

5) Be mentally strong. This is Wisconsin we're playing. They'll get lucky breaks, bounces, crap shots that go in, etc. As hogville mentioned, who knows how the game will be called. Play through all of it, playing the type of basketball that got us to this point in the season.
Post-Game Look at Some Keys:

1) Wisc Out-rebounded 35-30, and we gave up crucial offensive boards which led to Wisc outscoring us 18-11 in Second Chance points.

2) Bench scoring: Wisc. 17, Indiana 8...

3) Hulls couldn't buy a shot, other than hitting a 2 during the game and an essentially meaningless 3 in the last minute...

All adds up to total frustration...thankfully we can move on to the NCAA's now.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me... at least as far as Butler is concerned. I wouldn't care just as we play Kentucky in the first round. Lunardi still has us at #1.
