  • Game # 35: (9) Temple v. (1) Indiana Game Thread
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

About 2/3 through this thread. Anyone calling out the team and saying we don't have heart really needs to zip it. We didn't play well for large stretches of the game (credit Temple; they're extremely well-coached), but if you think this team doesn't want it, you're a damn fool. Period, end of discussion.

Damn, I think I almost has a heart attack! Everything seemed to unravel when Jordy wasn't on the court.

I think I bruised a few ribs thumping my chest so hard. Finally got the monkey off our back and won a Wisconsin style game
Exactly what I was thinking.

of course they WANT it! but wanting it and playing like it are two different things... and the lack of heart comments are by how we're allowing them to out rebound us and not playing with the killer instinct we're capable of. They were playing timid a lot of the game. They won because they're good enough to win against a team like temple when we PLAY OUR GAME, despite not playing up to our capabilities MOST of the game.

I think we let Temple dictate the majority of the game, like we've let wiscy do and our players get frustrated and make decision that aren't the best... and top that off with the crazy subs we make in game and it's enough to drive a fan batty!

I must have jumped 10 feet off the floor when Oladipo hit that shot.
Me too, brother. It wasn't quite on the same level of the Wat Shot, but I was a fired up Hoosier. My Purdue-loving cousin looked at me like 'mother fucker'...

Thursday can't come soon enough.

I never thought this team didn't have heart in this game. In the Butler game...yes. The biggest difference IMO was that the team looked lost when Hulls wasn't in. Put him in, and the team would start to surge. Take him out, and we start to slide.

I told you mofo's to stay positive and we were a 3 or TWO (Oladipo's, namely) from cracking Temple.

With that being said.... unless we're getting blown out by like 10+ with 2 minutes left, leave your negative bullshit to yourself. A couple of you are very pessimistic and it's extremely annoying when our team time and time again has proven they have heart and are resilient. Stay positive. Your influence good or bad doesn't effect the outcome, but damn, talk about instant buzz kill.

Respectfully.....and just a general message; not directed to anyone in particular.,,,,

We're a small team; we're going to occasionally have rebounding troubles. I don't think we play timid at all. I think when we get behind, we panic, which is a result of the players wanting to win so badly. We force the issue like a mofo, and it hurts us. Reminds me of a player I once coached. Seriously did anyone not watch senior night? They were all crying like women on their wedding day. These players want it more than anyone on this board...if you or anyone else wants to say they're playing like they don't want it; that's fine. But don't plainly say that they don't have heart; it's BS and I'll call your ass out on it.

Rock, I agree 100% with your 2nd paragraph. Perfectly said.

People can be over the top with it, but during the game emotions can get the best of us and part of the point of this board is to vent as well as discuss the positives.

I really believe that Hulls coming back into the game really settled us down. A huge three and a difficult deuce plus good D and that calming influence he has on the team. A true senior leader in my opinion
Amen, MD. I know he gets ragged on occasionally, but mark my words; you all will miss him next year very much so. Guaranteed.

Hulls showed a lot of guts in the second half. I didn't think he would get back in the rest of the game. He made some nice defensive plays and made some big shots for us. That's a senior for you.
That's a LEADER for you.
