  • Game # 35: (9) Temple v. (1) Indiana Game Thread
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Let's all just pray Hulls recovers quickly. Remy played some huge minutes tonight, and had less turnovers than Zeller, so I'm content with that.

About 2/3 through this thread. Anyone calling out the team and saying we don't have heart really needs to zip it. We didn't play well for large stretches of the game (credit Temple; they're extremely well-coached), but if you think this team doesn't want it, you're a damn fool. Period, end of discussion.
I never thought this team didn't have heart in this game. In the Butler game...yes. The biggest difference IMO was that the team looked lost when Hulls wasn't in. Put him in, and the team would start to surge. Take him out, and we start to slide.
Well put. Outside of shooting, he doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but he certainly seems to have a calming influence on us. Considering he played after the injury, I'll assume he's good to go for Thursday.

Zeller played pussy defense....that was a problem IMO. He won't get away with that as we advance.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

The watford block and VO 3 are the two plays I'll always remember from this game.
That watford block was everything in this game. Bigger than the VO 3 in my opinion.

br
It was mega huge. Changed the tone in the last few minutes.
And it came out of nowhere. I thought temple had an easy layup
Same here. Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, I haven't read the entire thread, but when we're down by a few points late in the game (6-8 minute stretch), and Cody only has 1 or 2 fouls, he needs to to start being aggressive and going after the block/swat on those easy layups.

I understand he is probably the most fundamentally sound big man in the country, and that's obviously a good thing, but there's a time when you have to send a message, and AT LEAST send them to the line and make them earn it. Was getting pretty frustrated with the easy buckets late in the game and seeing Zeller with his hands straight up in the air. I honestly thought it was going to cost us the game.

That said, I wouldn't trade him for any other big man in the nation, but Crean needs to light a fire in his ass in these certain situations. Teams knowing he WON'T foul down low is pretty easy to scout.

On another note, I was impressed with CWAT today, he may have not lit up the scoreboard, but he was tough as nails on the block.

I actually didn't even see your "pussy defense" post until after I posted.

Guess I wasn't the only one that saw it.

Dear Charles Barkley:

the Craft call was a close one. It was called a charge. IT DIDN'T END THE GAME.

Get over it.

So did I! I was ready to cuss and then Watford comes out of nowhere and had a beautiful block! That really was the key to the win I believe. Then of course Vic's shot didn't hurt. So Happy!!!

IDK... I think the key to the win, again, was we scored more points... I can promise you, 100% of the time, that if we continue to outscore our opponents, we will beat them. If we EVER score more points and lose the game, I'll not post for a year

I couldn't agree more with this. Just once would he contest a shot or alter it at least, and not try for a charge every time

That block instantly made me think of the Moye block on Boozer
