Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

you guys are so right. people in the 18th and 19th century were way more informed about politics that people nowadays. I'm sure they knew the positions of all of their representatives very well based on your hunches.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I wonder how informed women and blacks were on the voting issues during Lincoln's election.

Women were possibly informed, but blacks mostly couldn't read. Not sure what voting rights has to do with an informed electorate.

Yeah, I'm sure that you would be more political if you didn't have the right to vote.

It's amazing how revisionist some people can be.

What are you even talking about here brum. What do voting rights in the 19th century have to do with an informed electorate. Women and blacks weren't a part of the electorate, so their level of information is irrelavent.

The view that

A. information is more readily available means that

C. people are less informed

is nothing more than an illogical hunch without point B unless you can provide any kind of factual analysis to it, which you have not.

Which is precisely the point of my last post.

Had their candidate of choice been elected the last two elections, they would not be instigating this conversation.

It's a hunch but not an illogical one. I mean come on.....look at these last 2 presidents. Are you telling me than an informed electorate chose them?

Did you happen to look at who they defeated?

Yeah, clearly Mitt Romney was a much worse candidate than Obama and his stellar achievements over the previous 4 years. Brums logic makes perfect sense.

Which are highly covered by all forms of media. But I'm sure that in the 1800s, the electorate was really informed on all of the candidate's positions. Horseback >>>> internet.

So the fact that Obama had a terrible record and an anemic economy going into the election yet still won is totally due to Romney being a shitty candidate. I'm following you.

I'd say they were more informed than the Snooki crowd....

Even posters on this board admitted that they were sticking with Obama due to a couple fringe social issues....does that make them well informed?
