| Welcome to Our Hoosier Board! Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions. Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful. Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine! I really just heard about this story last night, and haven't looked at it in depth yet, but I wanted to get your takes. Should she have been fired...etc? [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6j7p8yx52c[/utube] |

yeah, it's obviously much more "tabloid" or "pop" than what I usually post, but it does seem to be in the news and have a political/racial slant, so I figured I'd post it. |

I wasn't being critical of you posting it, but was expecting to see something a little more controversial. The cable news guys have a lot of dead air to fill... |

I had a black friend say that it's bullshit and she can't help her southern upbringing... he basically said she's a bomb-ass cook and doesn't need to lose her job over a little slip-up like that. He was being hilarious "I'm just an Uncle Tom.." had me rolling with his responses on the matter. It didn't offend him and he said we're only human. |

If Tiger Woods can still be sponsored by Nike, Paula Deen should be able to keep her sponsorships... |

Paula deens apparent racism doesn't make her deep fried butter stuffed with butter any less delicious. Seriously though I don't reall think she's racist, maybe made a mistake and unfortunately these days one slip up by a celebrity pretty much dooms them. Non issue to me. |

Amazing. I guess if she'd have said "Hymie-town" she would have been fine? |

Meh. I fully support her right to make any racial slurs she wishes. I also fully support Food Network's right to cancel her show if they wish. |

And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed Meat is Murder. Sweet, delicious murder. | |

I agree with that. Just sad that she has to answer for something that apparently happened long ago and really has nothing to do with her job or the case she is involved in. How many of us have NEVER repeated a bad racial joke? Have never said at least one thing in our lives that was insensitive to someone else? This PC world is getting pretty pathetic, IMO. |

Just an FYI, you agreeing with me is offensive. You should apologize while I secretly get you fired from your job. :sarcasm: |

Meh.....she didn't mind hiding hawking her fatty fatty foods while hawking the diabetic medication she was taking. Forget her racial slurs....she's a money grubber willing to -- as Anthony Bourdain said -- tweeted about her practice 'Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later.' He followed that up with "“We can look forward to People or Us magazine running the cover story, ‘I’m back’ usual rehab story private hell,” Bourdain said . “Clearly this has been coming for a while. She’s been looking for ways to position herself.” (she knew about her diabetes and continued to promote her high fatty foods -- she didn't release it until she had brokered her deal with her diabetes medication) He was correct as she then started making books on 'healthier eating' for diabetics. Finally, he summed her up “She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations, and she’s proud of the fact that her food is fucking bad for you,” Bourdain said to TV Guide. “Plus, her food sucks.” In the end, good riddance. She was a disgusting human being regardless of what any slurs she made. Edited by brumdog44, Jun 24 2013, 09:06 PM.
