I didn't eat at it, but they had advertisements up for Paula Deen's buffet at Harrah's in Tunica. Apparently, it will be renamed. |

What's everyone's opinion of Alec Baldwins homophobic twitter comments yesterday that the media basically has decided to give a pass on? We hold Deen (a woman Obama supporter) accountable for comments from years ago but sweep Baldwins comments from yesterday under the rug. A gay/lesbian website even gave him space of their website to "apologize". I really don't give a shit what these people do or say but the obvious double standards are nauseating.... IMO, deans life got turned upside down because the media elite and their small progressive cult ASSUMED her southern accent meant she was a conservative when she is actually a democrat....if someone has a better conclusion I'd love to hear it Edited by IUCOLTFAN, Jun 29 2013, 06:57 AM.

Good post colt. I was thinking the same thing about Baldwins comments. I doubt we will see mass coverage and boycots of him. |

Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism. | |

Paula Deen isn't done. Not by a long shot. [utube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BevNkLH-q8[/utube] Don Imus was fired on April 11th for his Rutgers women's team comments. By November 1st he had a multiple year contract with another network signed. In terms of being dropped by the Food Network....her contract was to end June 30. The ratings were down 15% for the 2012-3 television season and down 22% for the 18-49 demo. And then they got the additional straw on the camel's back. They made the right business move. When someone says that she was dropped by the Food Network solely because of his racial slur from long ago, they examining all of the facts. Likely if her ratings would have been higher, the company would have put the show 'on hiatus' for a couple of months and then started it back up. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323998604578567832751771860.html?mod=e2tw |

I am not talking about that. I'm talking about the way the media has handled it. Have you even heard about Baldwin tweeting that he was gonna hunt this "queen" down and kick his ass?? He verbally threatened a homosexual multiple times on his twitter feed nd used homophobic language and not a peep from the media.....not 1% the blowback that Dean has received from something she said years ago. Food network contract or not, the media vilified her almost immediately yet not a peep on something Baldwin tweeted 2 fucking days ago??? If that isn't bias then I don't know what is. And although I agree with some things said in the Conan video, it's pretty classless and disingenuous to call her a whale sitting on the beach and pretend it was a gambling reference....clever but still classless. Where is the outrage from NOW? Edited by IUCOLTFAN, Jun 29 2013, 09:38 AM.

I think what Baldwin said was completely idiotic. Until you posted it, I didn't know about....kind of been preoccupied with taking care of parents since their accident and the only news I've looked at is here. What you have to remember, though, is that my attacks on Deen had nothing to with racial slurs. Your position on that was automatic disagreement because in your opinion 'other people do similar things' in the same way that a kid doesn't think he's guilty because others did it. |

No, I think if we are gonna dig back that far into everyone past then we should do just that, do it to everyone. I don't care if Paula dean ever works again but I do applaud her for being honest and accepting whatever consequences come with it. People make mistakes, own up and see what happens. Was her apology heart felt? I have no idea. But slime like Baldwin make stupid comments, delete their post, and then proceed to do interviews and start talking tea party bullshit....he needs to own up and then be held to the same standards. I'm tired of the double standards and biased bullshit that is put out. Alec Baldwin doesn't deserve to be sheltered from this just like Dean wasn't......that is all I am saying. I honestly don't give a shit about either person, I care about the bigger social issues for us all. Put everyone on a level field and hold them equally accountable, I don't see why that is so hard to do or that it is too much to ask. If the media in this country wants to regain any of their credibility (I'm not convinced they do or that they care), this would be a huge first step, IMO. |

Obama's so dishonest he was against gay marriage before he was for it last year, and now he acts like the anti-gay marriage crowd has epic homophobia. |

I don't recall why Obama said he changed his mind last year. If anyone has a link, please post. Here's his statement from last week. http://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2013/06/26/obama-supreme-court-defense-of-marriage-act/2459427/ Brian, do you think he changed his position multiple times for political pandering, or what? Just imagine if Bush had done the same. The MSM would have been reminding us on a regular basis. |

Ok, fair enough. Initially it was about her racial comment from 30 years ago, and then Brum turned it into a personal indictment about other behavior. Edit: It reminded me of Brum's recent attack on Michelson when he complained about the high CA tax rate. Brum essentially said he had no room to complain, as his recent golf game had been pretty poor. Brum was all crickets when Phil got second in the US Open, but that's what I expected... Yeah, bri must have missed that part. In the name of fairness, had he seen that, he surely would have face palmed Brum instead |
