Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I think the 20 week limit is good morally, and a political winner for Repubs. However, not having exceptions for rape and incest, and not easing restrictions on abortion pills is a loser, IMO.

That's HALF of a pregnancy man.... and actually it is a known fact a standard pregnancy is more like 36-38 weeks if you go from day of conception.

That bill can suck a bag of dicks. You're murdering a beating heart. I will NEVER support that BS. Rape cases, if PROVEN, should be the only fucking exception. Period.

Otherwise stop being a fucking whore, take birth control (which is SUPER easy to get a hold of anymore), or make your man wear a damn rubber.

Laws like these are only made to "shut up" the opposing parties to abortions a little bit. Doesn't even come close to passing the "eye test" with me. Own up to your damn responsibilities. Thinking they're doing best for them AND the baby.... makes me fucking sick. That's why there's adoptions and foster homes. Much rather a GAY person raise a kid than some straight, selfish asshole just aborting whenever they so please.

Do you have a link for this? We just had our 2nd child 4 months ago and our doctor still had us on a 40 week timeline.

4.34 weeks in a month (average)
4.34 * 9 = 39.06

Which would be right between 38-40...right? I think it is a very well accepted fact pregnancies last about 9 months. There are definitely exceptions to THAT, thankfully for technology. (early pregnancies)

Plus, if you want to argue that's not killing a beating heart... you must have not gone to any ultra-sounds during the 20 week period. Babies heart's typically develop close to 4 weeks into a pregnancy, and after 5 or so weeks is when it will show on an ultrasound.

36 would be considered a bit early.. I was off on that number as the link I viewed on that number was 8 years ago. Today the number is right on the money at 39 weeks for an average. So, a healthy, natural pregnancy should be from 39-40 weeks. The 2 links I provided show that evidence to support my statements, as well as tons of other links for reference upon a simple Google search.

I'm good with 39-40. 36-38 didn't seem right to me. The "9 months" thing is a fallacy. It's ABOUT 9 months but 9 months has never been used as the medical gestation period.

Yes but in your calculation here

4.34 weeks in a month (average)
4.34 * 9 = 39.06

You are using 9 months to come up with 39 weeks. The thing is, your doctor never makes that calculation. What happens is that you go in for your first ultrasound and the ultrasound gives the conception date based on the statistics of the embryo at that time. The earlier your first ultrasound, the more accurate the date is. And of course the couple can then think back and try to remember which date they had sex to confirm or pinpoint that date even further. Once you have the conception date, then your doctor puts your due date at 40 weeks later. 9 months in never considered. It's just popular to say.

Nope... there's not. Definitely reading into it the wrong way Mongo.

I'd rather them raise children any day over a foster/group home even. Most caring people in the world. I know quite a few... so be gone with that train of thought.

I think the 20 week limit is good morally, and a political winner for Repubs. However, not having exceptions for rape and incest, and not easing restrictions on abortion pills is a loser, IMO.

Also very, very troubling is that the clinics that meet the 'surgical center' designation drops the number of clinics able to perform them from 42 to 5.

Wait.....at 22 weeks is a rape fetus less human than a non rape fetus?

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Why is that troubling? This isn't a procedure that should be taken lightly. Shouldn't it be done in a proper facility?
