Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

And yet Democrats want unrestricted immigration where people from 2nd and 3rd world countries would be living better on that McDonald's paycheck. I don't see the logic...

Brian, in your opinion what kind of person or situation results in only being qualified for a min wage job?

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

HaHa Nicely played.

Seriously though, Democrats have always pushed for immigration amnesty, and have been reluctant to tighten border security. I believe the combination of amnesty and porous borders will hurt the lower-class in this country.

It's not. But if you are working, I would say even a minimal phone service is. Dropping that cost from $100 to $30 still leaves the person working 72 hours/week at minimum wage to meet their suggested budget.

Totally agree.

I challenge anyone to show me a sustainable 40/hr a week at federal minimum wage sustainable budget.

And for bonus points: show me a single mom on minimum wage budget breakdown.

Should we count government assistance? I doubt a single mother making minimum wage does not have assistance available to her. Surely if we raise the minimum wage to $12.50/hr like DC has demanded Walart do, we can cut some government assistance, right?

Oops...DC government demands more from Walmart than they actually do themselves.......imagine that.

?

Not sure what your point is and how it makes a difference to how people can't live on minimum wage.

But isn't that kind of the point.....that maybe we wouldn't have to provide government assistance to single working mothers if it were possible to live on what the minimum wage was?

Are you making the case for gov't assistance?

I never would have expected you to do that.

Anyone going to go for the single-mom bonus point formula for minimum wage living?

We currently assist millions of people with necessities. It just amazes me that we are the most giving and charitable society on the planet but its never good enough....
