Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I remember when aaron said that he understood the need for, and supported, minimum wage laws.
Really? I have always been the one against them on here.
I just went back to try and find the quote, but it must have been deleted. Trust me though. I remember it very clearly.
He probably just misrepresented himself.

That is actually very funny dreach, I'll give you props for that. I did, however, show you where you insinuated what I claimed you said. I realize that you later claimed that you were only talking about some of zimmermans story being true and I believe that now, but that isn't what you said at the time. And like I said before, I wasn't the only one who interpreted it that way.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

That's what I thought. When you can't answer, put down others.
I didnt mean to put you down. I've just been discussing issues with you long enough to know that you rarely consider solutions that revolve around the free market over government intervention.

I'd be glad to have a legit conversation with you about it if you really wanted to.

Mr gray,

I am assuming that you believe eliminating the minimum wage would actually increase wages?

My assumption is that you believe employees are very important to the success of a business. That by eliminating the minimum wage business then compete for strong workers.

Not sure if it would increase wages or not, but it would decrease our costs of goods and increase employment. Americans demand higher wages and complain about jobs going overseas at the same time. Quite a paradox.

There's a 0% chance that it increases wages.

Do you honestly think the unemployment rate is high because there's not enough minimum wage jobs?

I didn't say it would increase wages. I KNOW that many American companies would hire more legal American workers if they could do so at a lower wage. Why do you think we outsource and/or hire illegals instead of Americans currently?

Since it's been shown that you can't live on minimum wage, the thought that companies paying less than minimum wage seems preposterous. Even your thought that the cost of goods would go down would not mean anything significant to those making at or below our current minimum wage.....all it would do is allow those of us making decent salaries to buy things cheaper.

False. People can share rent, transportation, etc to dramatically reduce their cost of living. As long as big government is there is save the day, many people will use it as a crutch and be robbed of their self-esteem. Kind of like the kid whose parents or rich uncle always helps out, depriving her of the satisfaction of succeeding on her own.

I haven't read through this thread, but the last time I worked outside of the house, if I remember right, minimum wage was about 5.30 an hour.

I have no idea what it is now.

I haven't worked out of the house since December of '04. Under $2.00 jump in almost a decade?

Ridiculous.

That's roughly a 40% increase. It's the dollar amount that makeshift sound so small. Has the average worker pay gone up 40% over that time period? I'm not sure but my guess would be no....
