Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

The minute an ex-politician takes a job like this, his/her lifetime pay and health benefits should be null and void

They shouldn't be getting lifetime pay and health benefits to begin with.

If the benefits are taken away, te practice of becoming a lobbyist would increase as they look for $.

Talks of how "its classified" is the new norm in DC instead of answering to the constituents

I don't have a problem with them becoming lobbyist after they are out of government....but I agree that they should be OUT OF GOVERNMENT, meaning no longer on the payroll.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Amazing example of how these people operate. Some will think this is political, believe it or not, it really isn't. Yes, it is about a democrat (which is never mentioned), but it is a great example of how politicians from both sides of the aisle operate. Ever wonder how these people double their portfolio while we all lose our ass and/or our jobs? It's amazing what these people get away with.

Except that the reality is that there are many whose votes are specifically being cast to set themselves up for lobbying after they are out of office.

it's hard to patently prevent someone from taking a job after their term of employment....however, we could enact severe conflict of interest laws and have them in effect for a 5 or 10 year post service term.

I will say it seems ironic to receive a retirement pension from congress while, as a lobbyist, your job is to influence congress.
