  • Former Indiana State Superintendent changed school grade for Republican donor's charter school
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

It does and will continue to do so. Things nie getting released that were pretty well known in certain education circles.

This article is from last January -- after he had lost his re-election bid. It's about USA Charter and misappropriated funds.

http://bobsidlethoughtsandmusings.wordpress.com/2013/01/02/tony-bennetts-charter-schools-usa-problem/

What is interesting....his wife was hired as a director for USA charter and previously when she worked at Marian College an inordinate amount of amount sent their way for the overseeing of charter schools. There was an obvious financial connection between charter schools and Bennent's pockets....and an obvious need for those schools to be highly regarded in terms of their state grades.

hBy the end of last year, just as Graham and his company now acknowledge they began seeking a buyer for the Washington Post, operating income at Kaplan's higher education division had plummeted to $27 million from $406 million two years earlier, a drop of 93 percent, according to the company's securities filings.ttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/06/washington-post-kaplan_n_3715396.html

$$.....there appears to be a lot in education

WHich is where there have been real issues with charters......and then politicians who change their grades because of the money trail.

Bill Gates' venture into education will not end well for our school children.

Yes, some people find any way possible to drain money from the system. Scary to think that education dollars were used to keep a newspaper afloat.

Gates has a lot of money tied into both charters and testing corporations....the tests in which a lot of states charters and private schools are not subject to taking. He also was a huge supporter and sunk lobbying money into No Child Left Behind and then Race to the Top...Race to the Top resulting in states competing for federal dollars by doing things such as increasing the amount of high stakes testing they do (which Gates stands to make a hefty dollar from) and an increase of privately run, for profit charter schools...which he also stands to make a hefty profit from.
