Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

It doesn't take a study to have a little common sense
I guess that's my point. We could certainly define "smart ass" and then conduct a research study to determine the extent to which high school kids are smart asses vs the rest of the population. All that would do, however, is confirm what those in the teaching industry already know based on their years of experience and direct observation or.....common knowledge.
Glad you can speak for the teaching industry as well.

I do believe that typically section 8 housing does suffer more tenant damage, but the shoe 'don't need numbers, I know what I know' is an immensely weak argument.

I also believe that landlords are less likely to fix their tenants problems as quickly as they would in other housing....however, I'm not going to cite 'common knowledge' and make that to be more than it....it's a supposition, not a factual statement.
Brum, one of my businesses is in daily contact with landlords and property damages. That would be like me aski g you to provide a research study which shows that high school kids are smart asses. It just isn't necessary for someone in your position.
Except I wouldn't make a factual statement about high school students being smartasses. I'd make a statement of opinion. And I certain wouldn't cite 'common knowledge' of it. "Smart assness' isn't exactly a measurable quantity. House destruction is. And Anything that is common knowledge can be easily backed with proof.....that's why it's common knowledge.
Bullshit and you know it.
Believe it or not, not everyone is like you and assumes their opinion is fact. That is what is bullshit.
It's not an opinion when you interact with hundreds of industry experts, in this case property managers.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

This is pretty ridiculous, Aaron, what's next, stating that people take better care of their own car than a leased or work vehicle? I don't know where you get this stuff. :D

It may be fact, but that fact is not based on opinion. It would be based on facts.

Let's say someone else came on here and said they had the exact same kind of day to day interactions that you had and that their experience was that the amount of damage to section eight houses wasn't greater. Obviously you can both be right in terms of YOUR interactions, which is why we would to know more than just anecdotal knowledge.

I do not disagree with your opinion that section 8 housing receives more damage typically than others. My opinion is that it most likely is. But that's all it is for me...and opinion. I believe the average section 8 housing unit receives more damage than others, but I think it's very dangerous to group them all together.
