Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

?

I said that the only thing I found to be in poor taste was asking the crowd who wanted to see Obama run over. I also find putting a dummy in the center of the ring of former president Bush in the center of the ring to be run over to be in poor taste. I can't speak to others comparing the two but I think my position has been consistent on this.

Equating the actions of the DOJ and the NCAACP with some nut-case is a weak attempt to win this argument, IMO.
What did the DOJ do ?

Fair enough Brum,

Maybe sometimes we inject the biased media into what others say. MSNBC had a guest on last night that said this was close to a Klan rally.

IMO the point some are trying to make on this is with President Obama the protective media is very sensitive.

I started this by making a point that we seem too sensitive about Obama. What I meant, but didnt say correctly, is that we are too sensitive apparently because of his race. I think there have been and will always be a ton of people who catch flack for criticizing the President no matter who it is. I get annoyed by the fact that so often any criticism of Obama gets labeled as "racist". It's absurd. Criticizing a black man doesn't mean you are a racist unless your criticism of him is about his skin color.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I understand that. However, I do think that there does exist criticism by certain people that is based on race whom won't admit to that.

I was wrong about the DOJ. The NAAAALP called for the DOJ and secret service to investigate.

It just seems to me te "outrage " over the "outrage" is greater than the actual outrage was to begin with.

I don't think that anyone with relevance or credibility in our society holds that view though. I don't kno their heart so I could be wro g, but the various talking heads and politicians who routinely criticize Obama don't appear to be racist to me.

The problem is that information in today's society is often passed down through other sources.....the amount of information that comes through chain e-mails, Facebook, photoshopped images, etc, is ridiculous.....and people that should know better accept it. So while the talking heads may not be coming from any racist position (and I don't think they are), they certainly have interviews with people who are coming from that position. It's an unfortunate unavoidable reality. And while you and I as reasonable people know which of these positions are at least rooted in reality, there are people who simply assume that everything they hear is true.

And the more people talk about how this is such a racist country, the worse it gets...

Yeah, I'm pretty confused as to why a smart guy like Brum would compare the Dixie Chicks situation to this. It appears that his fingers got ahead of his brain on this one.
I guess you don't recall death threats.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/2006/05/11/dixie-chicks-discuss-death-threats/

And I wonder why you hold so much of interest in what the NAACP says. I don't and you sure never did before.
Because they didn't speak out for past presidents. Why now? It's a fucking mask. It's free speech. Why is it now so offensive? Please help me understand. President Bush handled the situation with class when he addressed it....he spoke up for his detractors rights. Pretty classy, IMO.
I think this is a very stupid thing to get upset about but I do have to ask why you think an the NAACP would speak out for white presidents?

Obama needs to squash this and tell the NAACP to back off this silly shit. It would make him look much more like a president.

If the mask is soooo offensive now, then it was racist and offensive then too. I really only care that the president speaks out and tells them to put their faux outrage back in their sad sack of tricks. The prez has power from the pulpit....he should speak up and stop all the tricky-tack fake race shit.

It's not the NAABP, it's the NAACP.....white is a color too.
