Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I think the biggest question is whether we should go with Obamacare or the ACA.

That guy must be from the 57th state.

Do you even read what you are typing? Because you certainly aren't replying to anything I typed.

The guy you are talking about was against Obamacare but for the ACA. Sounds like a republican response.

I didn't realize you could get an actual quote without enrolling.
The quotes listed were for two age brackets -- something like 27 years old and then 50 years old. Can't remember where I found the link, if I find it I'll post.
Saw a story on that. It's a teaser. You are getting the lowest possible price for a 27 yr old and the lowest possible price for a 50 yr old. The true prices are much higher once you start giving your real age and info. The prices you are seeing are for the absolute best case scenarios.....I wouldn't be planning my budget off those teaser numbers.
The pdf file I saw listed EVERY available exchange, some higher, some lower. It took a hellishly long time to download because it was for every exchange plan in every county of the United States. In most cases it was like 18 different plans/county.

You may, in fact, now see plan prices on the healthcare.gov site without entering any personal information. For instance, I can tell you the 18 different estimated exchange rates and levels for a family plan in Wayne County, Indiana.

Instead of speculating, how about you do actual research?
Whatever. Go ahead and plan your budget on those rates.
Exactly what I expected from you.
They are teaser rates until you give them your info. Why would I download every county in the US when no state but Indiana is relevant? You can sugar-coat this fiasco any way you like, it doesn't change the fact that more people have lost the coverage they were told they could keep than have actually signed up for coverage. Spin the numbers however you want. You are all about polls, what do the polls say about the "ACA"?
Teaser rates, gotcha. You do realize that almost every person on the exchange will pay less than the amount listed because of the tax subsidies?

Now, if polls on Obamacare are a huge voting factor.....then why is the Republican Party sitting at 31% approval?
This plan needs young healthy people (who DONT receive subsidies) to survive....

Getting people that the law helps to sign up is not the problem.

Center of Public Policy study on effects of a one year delay on mandate:

Specifically, a one-year delay of the individual mandate would reduce the expected coverage gains under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by nearly 85 percent, relative to current law, according to a recent CBO estimate. Delaying the individual mandate also would raise premiums for health insurance purchased in the individual market in 2014, CBO finds.

Yep, anything to delay the law will probably make it easier to kill in the future. wtg

It's interesting how the Senate Dems up for re-election want to delay it. It's going to be interesting to see the Dems run from the law heading into the election year, in an attempt to save their political skins. Their best chance to avoid a '14 shellacking is to rename it "BushCare" and get out the '08, '10, and '12 election playbooks. :D

Sally Kohn? Lmao...

"My family plan went from 771.00 per month to 1123.00 per month the January after this abortion was passed into law.
Then, when the first aspects (like kids being able to stay on parents insurance until age 26) went into effect, my family plan went to 1550.00 per month.
Now, when I look on the NY State website, my family plan will be over 1600.00 per month for a crappier plan than I already had!"

There you go Brum, I found this quote in the comment section of an article on Obamacare.

Brum: 1

Wanna keep going or just agree on a stalemate?

"Meanwhile, we know that in a state like Oregon, ObamaCare has already reduced the number of uninsured individuals by 10%. Glitches aside, that’s a great start."

This morning I read that the Washington State is being used as an example of a successful web portal for ObamaCare. 75% of all of the people signing up are qualifying for medicaid, which is subsidized by the Feds.
