Not gonna play the "I told you so" game, but I'm glad to see that most everyone now realizes what a bad coach he really is. Nice guy, great recruiter (of talent anyway...), but he lacks a lot in X's and O's to say the least. I've personally never seen this low a level of fan enthusiasm for the Hoosiers and that's very concerning to me. There's plenty of fans out there still, but they just don't seem to care as much about the team and the season as they have in the past. All that being said, what are your current thoughts on coach Crean? Is he gone? When? What's this years threshold for success or failure? |

Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism. | |

what are your current thoughts on coach Crean? nice guy. gives everything he's got. unfortunately, i don't think he's got what it takes to make IU a consistent program on the ncaa hoops scene. will always appreciate the rebuilding from ground zero that he undertook...but his ceiling's been reached and it might be time to move on... Is he gone? i'd say it's looking increasingly likely. 63% When? wouldn't be till after the season. june? What's this years threshold for success or failure? with respect to CTC, it has to be the same as when we entered the season...deep tourney run (very least 2nd weekend) and top 1 or 2 in the BIG. removing the CTC job security factor and reevaluating the actual team we have...i'd say winning one game in the tourney and a top 5 BIG finish might have to be considered a success. just not a complete team. too many liabilities. and 2 of the 3 freshmen aren't even capable of playing minor minutes. not looking forward to next year at all. so...why not make a coaching move... now...go on and run the table hoosiers!!! |

My gut tells me that the AD will keep him around one more year. CTC does lack X's and O's. If his team isn't playing fast and lose then there is no offense. Allowing players to play with the ball in their hands when it isn't their strength is bad coaching. Yogi should have the ball in his hands the most but instead has him playing more off the ball. It is like he wants to showcase Troy's and JBJ's ballhandling abilities to showcase them for the NBA instead of coaching to our strength. Our D is pathetic! |

I think we finish around what we did last year. .500ish in th big ten, stumble into the tourney as a 8 or 9 seed. That shouldn't be good enough for him to keep his job. |

I respect everyone's opinion on here, and certainly have plenty of thoughts on this as well. The frustration has boiled over for many fans, myself included. Coaching, in particular, is a results-oriented profession. Coaching is the epitome of the 'what have you done for me lately' mentality by which our society is based upon. My thoughts... CTC PROS 1) No one here questions Crean's character as a person. In this crazy world we live in, give me a Coach of Crean's character every day of the week. 2) Player development (particularly Oladipo). ---- CTC CONS 1) Not being tough enough with all the off-the-court incidents. This very likely led to Fischer's transfer. I'll never buy the homesick reasoning that was given. 2) Too offensive-minded. No one here is at the practices on a day-to-day basis, but I would LOVE to know how much time is spent on defense?...How much are defensive principles covered? (Defending BSA, Rebounding, etc.). 3) In-Game Adjustments (I.E., Out-Of-Bounds Plays). In many of his post-game pressers, he talks about how he should have made such-and-such adjustments during the game. The offense won't always click, and defense has to win you games that matter. Plenty more to add, but I'll stop there. Everyone's a critic, and Lord knows I've made plenty of mistakes as a Coach, so I don't want to be overly critical. Just my two cents. |

I just want to get back to rooting for the team without worrying about the off court incidents and what players and coaches are going to be here next year. Sounds like a really long year ahead in terms of that. |

No way a move is made mid-season, barring something catastrophic. If we were to, for example, beat Duke (a long shot I know), ND, and run the rest of the OOC schedule, hopes will again be high. |

Honestly I didn't think we were a top 15 team after Holt was dismissed, but it had to be done. I think most of the off court issues would have been avoided if Tom Crean would have come down hard on Yogi and Stanford Robinson when they had their prolems with alcohol. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that it's been a bigger issue like the 18 F's after Sampson was fired. |

I definitely don't think Crean has it in him to resign, so he'll definitely at least finish out the rest of this year. What I'm afraid will happen....We do pretty much what we did last year, just enough to sneak into the tournament and lose in the first round, and Glass will consider that good enough to keep his job again....Ugh! What I think should happen if we don't end up any better than last year...Crean and Glass are both gone, we get a competent AD and he hires Archie Miller away from Dayton to take the job his brother should have had 8 years ago. |

I just Googled Tom Crean... The top result is an article entitled, "Welcome to Tom Crean Appreciation Holiday Weekend!", on Hammer and Rails, basically proclaiming Crean their favorite Hoosier ever. Then we have his Wikipedia and Twitter pages, followed by www.tomcreanbuyout.com What else is there to say? |

Meh...Hammer and Rails just likes to stir the pot and if I were a Purdue fan I don't think I'd take anything too seriously there. Hell, Crean shouldn't even be the favorite Hoosier coach in the last two. You'd think that Hammer and Rails would focus more on how well their own team is doing. |

What I don't want from the next coach is someone who does come in with the mantra 'it's Indiana'. They need to come in with the idea that it's a program in need of a an attitude change and that isn't just accomplished by venue, but by hard word. |

Actually my first visit to Hammer and Rails. Just saying the fact that the top result on Google is a Purdue website celebrating the fact that he's still our coach is a pretty damning statement, don't you think? |
