I forgot to record this one, and will watch the replay. The box score looks pretty strong: http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=400839377. The game account says Mathias hit another big three. Matt had a talk with them about playing scared. Hopefully that crap's over. |

I actually thought we pretty much looked like a soggy doggy-doo for 30+ minutes in this game. But we did win by 17 over a decent team, and the stats are surprisingly good (especially assist/turnover). Still see cause for concern...and am not so sure Iowa was just a bad game. I'll feel better if we win in Champagne by double digits tomorrow though. |

I read that we were only up six pretty late, so it wasn't a cake walk. But like you said, the stats were very solid. Given that U of I looks like the stain left on the pavement after a dumpster fire, we should win this one without too much trouble. |

The team with Swanigan at the 4 is not looking good. I kinda figured that would lead to a slow start. We started out well shooting and vs average opponents so it kind of hid some problems. It's gonna take time. Purdue can be good w Edwards at the 4, really good. It can be great w Swanigan there. It just needs to work itself out. It'll look bad at times. Especially when then the shooters aren't making. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

I've been thinking the same thing. Teams are really targeting his defense away from the basket. I agree he is too good a player to not have on the court, and am hopeful that the mix does work out in the next 3 weeks or so. |

Not sure what happened with the rematch game. I think Purdue wins this game seven or eight out of ten times at Michigan, especially with LeVert really not able to contribute much at all at this point. Hammons had an off game offensively and no one really picked it up for him. Defense was still there and Michigan basically was a one man offense. Ultimately didn't hit the shots they were nailing the first time against UM. |

I haven't watched Purdue much this year, but the 2 games I followed have been Maryland and Michigan where Purdue had a lead going into the final 5 minutes and then forgot how to score. Have the late game struggles been a problem this season or did I happen to see the 2 games where it was a problem? |

I don't know. I can say that in non-conference I saw them and they were playing as well as anyone in the country. Probably a bit of bad luck and sub par play at crucial times in conference. A quick check of their in conference first/second half splits shows them at +108 in the first half and -46 in the second half. Ugh. That definitely hasn't been the mark of previous Painter teams. |

They just kept getting the ball at the rim and the ball wouldn't go in. They were 15-41 on 2 point shots, got outrebounded and shot 57% from the FT line on only 14 attempts. This Purdue team can't really overcome 15-41 on 2 point shots with its size (especially this game where its size advantage was enormous). They play so well for stretches then have stretches where things just go sideways. Maddening at times. |
