Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

This game is shaping up to be Yogi vs Hayes. Hayes was bad in the first matchup and he is clearly out to redeem himself. Yogi looks as locked in as any player I've ever seen. This should be fun.
If the refs didn't destroy any semblance of flow in the game, it would have been fun.
I thought that very same thing. The ref's, IMO, controlled the flow, which was in Wisconsin's favor. Game was too broken up by ticky tack fouls and it should have been play on.

I was wondering something though, isn't this the Big Ten? Is there normally contact in the Big Ten? Some of those fouls on Hayes weren't fouls. We couldn't breath on him without being called for a foul. He knew that was how the game was being called and to his credit, took advantage of it. Seem like he was driving to the basket almost every time and initiating the contact, which always went against IU.

Yeah, it's the Big Ten, but this stuff happens. Hayes is a great player and he's pretty huge for a guy that can catch it at the top of the key and drive it all the way to the hoop. When he does that, it's almost impossible NOT to contact him. I don't even know if a lot of those foul calls were bad. He certainly got fouled a lot. What I have a problem with a lot more is Yogi and Bryant not getting those same calls on the other end. I have a problem with Wisconsin's guys being rewarded for flopping all over the place. And I have a problem with Yogi not getting the 2 charge calls when he played great defense.

I agree. It did seem like it was called more one way.

Two thoughts.
1. Kohl center getting Kohl center calls
2. Tom Crean will never learn to make adjustments. How many times did IU have the chance to make 1 basket? All they needed was 1 more basket before the end of regulation.
I do have one thought about Crean not making adjustments.

Why didn't he make an adjustment on how we were going to guard Haap the second half? That guy just kept scoring at will.

Yeah. That was certainly the most glaring thing to me. In the post game, Yogi mentioned that Bryant is learning to guard 1 on 1 and he needs the experience. They weren't going to help him by crashing down on the box. I can see that, but I would have rather won the game. Maybe that's being shortsighted though.

My idea would have been to put OG on Happ and see what happened. OG is small, but quicker and has a lot of length to hold his own. The problem here is that Bryant, Hartman, Troy, Bielfeldt, AND OG were all in foul trouble. OG was doing the best job on Hayes, so it's certainly tough to pull him from that assignment and then risk him picking up fouls on the larger Happ instead. Defensively, it was a tough situation to be in all around. At a minimum I would have liked to see some guard help for Bryant, but whatever. All told, the gameplan was a good one and we put ourselves in position to win.

Yeah it was tough to watch and not just because of the obviously infuriating free throw disparity

This stat will blow your minds.

Nigel Hayes made just TWO baskets in the 2nd half + overtime combined last night.

He scored 19 points in that time.
