  • Indiana - YOUR 2015-16 BIG TEN CHAMPIONS
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

MSU is the only team that semi-scares me.
And Wisconsin. Could be the IU fan in me.
And Maryland. Iowa has lost too much steam, but I may change my mind after tonight. Not sure if I'm going to watch. Haven't been able to watch a lot of games, but we've lost all that I have. I might be MSU best weapon ;)

I must admit, I had my own shortlist of coaches to succeed Tom Crean, but I'm glad he turned it around. He is the kind of coach, personally and ethically that IU needs. The Calipari's and Sampson's of this world shouldn't be at IU. Win the right way, and not at all costs. I hope JBJ stays, and has learned he must play defense, and we don't lose too many people to keep this going. On too the B1G tourney. A good showing there, maybe a 2 seed in the NCAA tourney.

This is how I see it...at least for the 1st seven seeds in the BTT:

IU has @Iowa, Maryland left
Wisc has @ minny, @PU
Maryland has Ill, @IU
Iowa has IU, @mich
MSU has @RUT, OSU
OSU has only @MSU left
PUR @nebby, Wisc

So, my predictions, IU loses at Iowa and wins against Mary they finish 1 seed, and outright champs. 14-4
Wisc splits with a win at Minny and a loss against PU 12-6
Maryland wins against Ill and loses to IU 12-6
Iowa wins out 13-5
MSU wins out 13-5
OSU loses last game 12-6
Purdue wins both 12-6

This would seed the BTT like this
IU #1
Iowa #2 (won both against MSU)
MSU #3

(the 12-6 teams)
Purdue #4 ( 4-1 against the group)
Maryland #5 (4-2 against the group)
Wisc #6 (2-4 against the group)
OSU #7 (0-4 against the group)
This is how I see it.......

IU #1

who cares

Crean did a great job this year and so did the players, especially Yogi. That guy has totally turned everything around. Has been as good a leader as IU has had in quite some time, his defense has vastly improved, and he continues to want to take big shots and makes them.

Hats off to Crean and company. Great Job!!! :goiu:

On a side note: I hope Fred Glass doesn't give him an extension yet. I would like to see 2 or 3 more decent years. Not always winning the Big Ten but competing in the top 4 and doing well in the tournament, sweet sixteens at a minimum over those next 2-3 years. Just some consistency, then Glass and Crean should talk of an extension.

We've talked about Crean being a poor in-game coach before. This season makes me wonder if some of that blame should go on the players who were subsequently kicked off the team. I mean, it doesn't matter how good a coach you are if you have guys who don't listen, don't care or both.

Crean hit all the right buttons this season and the guys responded every time. Troy was struggling? We were talking about benching him? Here are Troy's numbers since that MSU game.

14.75 points/game
4.5 rebounds
2 assists
1.5 turnovers (including just 2 in the last 3 games combined)
62% field goal percentage. 62%!
38% from 3

And the thing is, we've seen Crean do this before with Zeller's freshman year, another team that far outperformed expectations. So part of me begins to wonder if Crean's effectiveness as a coach is highly dependent, moreso than other coaches, on recruiting specific types of players that will respond to his.....unique personality. He really seems to have gotten it right with OG, Juwan, and Bryant. Let's hope that trend continues.

Let's give Coach Crean and Staff a ton of credit...everyone, and I mean everyone (myself included), counted this team out after the Duke game. Threads were started on here, and the proverbial pitchforks and torches were out.

Flat-out Crean's best coaching job so far in his years in Bloomington. He and the Staff are to be commended for their efforts.

Yes, I have often thought about that. I know when Crean mentions that he doesn't have great leadership on the floor and in the locker room, maybe this is the affect from having it or not having it. Crean's coaching style depends greatly on having the right mix of players as well as leadership on the floor and in the locker room.

I am willing to put my pitchfork and torch away for a short time just to see how this plays out over the next 2 or 3 years. But I am serious, Glass doesn't need to hand out any extensions yet until Crean has proven he can win and make the tournament consistently. I talk about win is 20 plus wins each year and a top 4 (maybe 5) finish in the Big Ten. Sweet sixteens, or at least round of 32, each year. Then him and Glass can talk extensions.

I am afraid that Crean may use this as a marketing tactic to gain more $$$ or extension. Just my opinion.

I think the current contract runs through '18-'19 or '19-'20.

Let's enjoy the heck out of this Big Ten Championship, and continue supporting this team with the passion that we all have. In a wide-open field, we have a tremendous opportunity awaiting us in March.

No need to worry about contracts, etc. ENJOY THE MOMENT!
