Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Getting my first look at him live. His team is up 24-22 over a good (but not great) Michigan City team. His team is a scrappy team but doesn't match MC in athleticism.

Not a good half for Grant. Overall, 3 of 10 from the field (3 of 9 from three), 1of 2 from the line, 3 rebounds. Defensively didn't show much in the first few minutes -- after that his team went into a 2-3 zone that stymied Michgan a City so it was hard to tell much about him on that end.

He hasn't thus far shown anything offensively in terms of finding team mates or putting it on the floor. A couple of his threes were just bad, bad shot selection, including one from the the deep corner that had no angle for a chance to go in and actually hit the side of the backboard.

Hopefully he shows more the second half. Only positives I saw was that he doesn't seem to crawl into a shell when a couple of shots don't go in and he does look to be a true 6'5".

Thanks for the report. Hoping he's the next Colin Hartman.

Not much more in the second half. Ended the game 5 of 15 from the field (3 of 12 from three), 2 of 4 from the line, 4 rebounds, 15 points ( which was a team high, more from a bulk of shots than anything). His team did win, 60-52.

Yea that's what I've heard. I heard also he went scoreless in a game earlier this year. Seams like he's very streaky

Maybe he is the next Priller. Those are tough shoes to fill. ;)

He did. Also had a game where he hit six straight three pointers in the first quarter. I think the hope is that he turns into a Roth or Zeisloft, but that would be his ceiling. Right now I don't get the feeling I get with some guys that when the ball leaves his hand it is absolutely going in.

Crean certainly covets sharpshooters. Especially ones who are tall or quick enough to actually get their shots off. At this point with Gelon, I don't think you're looking at whether he's good enough to play in the Big Ten right now. I think you're looking at his shot form, his frame, and asking yourself what his potential is. Gelon right now is a 6'6", but he's skinny. You know IU is going to put him in the weight room, get him stronger, more athletic, and make his shot more consistent. Clearly I think Crean is looking at him to fill the Roth/Zeisloft/Hartman role. Hartman in particular has transformed his game into something much more valuable than just a sharpshooter, but I don't think what Hartman is doing now was really ever envisioned by anyone. Check out this pic of him in high school and how skinny he is.

He almost looks like a carbon copy of Gelon now.

I wouldn't call Gelon overly-skinny (there are a lot of twig like guys that get d 1 schollies). I would say he's probably closer to 6'5" than 6'6", though. In the game I saw, he had one really good, quick catch and shoot against good defense, but I wouldn't say that he drew an overly aggressive among of defensive attention.

The picture of Hartmann does gave an uncanny resemblance to Gelon. However, I think Hartmann's biggest strength is being able to shoot on offense and defend power forwards or small forwards on defense. I doubt Gelon ever defends like Hartmann does.

Oh absolutely about Hartman guarding forwards. I'm saying I don't think anyone necessarily thought he would turn into that type of player when he was recruited. I think he was recruited to fill that sharp shooter role and he's simply become a much, much better player than that. There's not chance Hartman is guarding BIG forwards if he still looked like he did in high school. Kid has really worked his ass off to get where he is. Especially, remember, because he tore his ACL freshman year. I'm honestly shocked at just how good he has become.

Hartman is one of my favorite players. Does so many things to help this team win and is solid at all of them.
