Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

I thought I had heard him wrong, so I rewound and listened to him again.....and I didn't.

When asked what they need to do against Purdue he said:

"We have to try and guard Stephens. He had 25 against us before."

:wtf:

Hopefully this means his team will relax at the start of the game when Stephens is on the bench

Wow.....Purdue just getting thrown shade on everyone on the CBS telecast, making them sound like nobodies.....Seth Davis, in analyzing the Michigan State/Purdue game just said that 'forgive me, but Maryland has considerably more talent than Purdue'.

Have to say if Purdue wanted locker room quotes for motivation, Izzo and CBS gave it to them in spades in about a five minute period. They don't seem to know anything about them (obviously Izzo's was just a brain fart, but Seth Davis....c'mon).

I can understand that to an extent. After IU lost, I felt the winner of the Maryland/MSU game (presuming they both advanced, which they easily did) had the best chance of winning the tourney.

I don't agree with Seth Davis on the "a lot more talent" quote, but I would agree that Maryland (and IU) match up better with MSU than Purdue does.

Not something I particularly enjoy saying, but I honestly think Purdue wins tomorrow. Good luck, regardless!

Same, and I also noticed his Stephens blunder. It's time to take Sparty out behind the woodshed.

I think the emphasis he put on 'considerably' more talent is over the top. I've seen Maryland and Purdue play twice and thought that over the eighty minutes they played, Purdue looked better. I think that the area will Maryland has a 'considerably' more talent is at point guard...but Trimble has been pretty much a train wreck the second half of the Big Ten season. And I really don't like Maryland's bench at all.

Honestly, I thought if Maryland beat Michigan State today, Purdue should be the favorite to win the BTT.

To be fair, Marylands entire starting 5 will probably play in the NBA at some point.

I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Considering Maryland was swept by Michigan State and IU lost at Michigan State (and the way the game went that day, it wouldn't have mattered where it was played), I can't say I agree with that. Michigan State is certainly led by Valentine, but the Costello/Davis/Schilling that they shuffle in and out (sometimes two in, sometimes one) and the number of different looks they can give really calls for the size that Purdue can put on the court.

One thing I do think about the Spartans is that they are a better team with Eron Harris on the floor than with Nairns.

Maryland was definitely who I was pulling for today. I don't know what's happened to Trimble...probably just a typical sophomore slump. Kinda seems like teams have learned to trick him into taking shots he's not completely comfortable with, but I don't know. Either way, Maryland wouldn't have been as likely to push the tempo, as MSU is...and I would guess every Purdue fan was hoping for a third game against Maryland tomorrow.

Yes, but that's because they fit that game better. And Davis was making the statement as a way of saying that the Purdue game should be easier for Michigan State. I really haven't seen anything in the late season that would back that up.

I think one thing teams have stopped doing is allowing him to run into contact going to the hoop. They've also backed off of him at the perimeter much more.....if he were knocking shots down like last year, they couldn't do that.

He's dropped from 6 free throws per game to 4 1/2 and free throws as a whole are up overall this year. For comparison, last year he was getting 6 free throws per game compared to Yogi's 3.8. This year, Yogi has shot more free throws than Trimble.

I just don't think 41% from 3 is his reality like he shot last year.

The only times I've been able to watch Maryland was the game at Purdue, their game at IU, and today's game. But it seems like he prefers to shoot on the move (pull-ups, step-backs, or fading to his right). As you said, defenses aren't forcing him to do that now...and then when he sets his feet and shoots a good shot, it misses badly.

As for Yogi, his improvement overall has been very impressive. Going into conference play, I thought IU was headed straight for the NIT and that he would be the reason why. But Yogi's passing game is far greater than Trimble's, and having that extra threatening aspect also creates more FT opportunities.

You don't expect a 7% drop, though....especially when watching him, he is getting good looks this year. Teams are backing off him and playing the drive.
