Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

ULAR has exactly one perimeter threat on their team. If Davis isn't going to guard that guy then why the fuck is Davis on the court? One guy single-handedly wiped away a 14-point deficit while Painter once again stood there with a dumb look on his face.

Davis has been a complete offensive liability away from Mackey...but he is still among the best defenders in college basketball. Who was he guarding again? Never mind. Sorry Boilermaker players. Maybe your coach will hire a tactician to his staff this summer.

That last take was not a good effort.

Why? Why did they stop feeding the post? Why did Painter stop substituting fresh legs in? Why did they stop the motion offense and have everybody stand still in the closing minutes? Why did Edwards not drive at the end of regulation? Why why why why why?

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

It was amazing to me that when UALR doubled Hammons they completely left Davis open....and when Hill was in, they left him completely open. You have to make them pay for that.

Foul when you're up 3 and less than 10 seconds left.

Other than that, I'm not sure how much more of a tactician Painter could be. Players gotta make plays at some point.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Personally happy Hammons is done for IU's sake next year. How would the Purdue fans look at his career at Purdue? I would think you'd have to be a little disappointed in the way he turned out. He's got hella potential but never seems to get excited over anything... kind of reminds me of a Jeremy Hollowell demeaner. I personally thought this was the year Purdue was going to make a run with the likes of Hammons Haas and Swanigan and I'm glad IU only had to play them once.

I'm surprised more teams that were outmanned down low didn't employ that strategy, especially against Hill. ARLR executed a good game plan.

I think it turned out like you'd have expected. He's just got a laid back personality. But he put time into his game, got into shape and for basically 2 years took care of his business. You'd want that to start a career but not every 19-20 year old is ready to be that consistent on a daily basis. I know I wasn't.

I think he'll be a good recruiting tool for Purdue going forward.

Agreed. Major props to him for pulling everything together and becoming the force everyone knew he could become. Getting in shape was a big deal, but bringing the effort every night is probably the biggest change from previous years. The fact that he's even being considered at the back end of the 1st round of the draft really speaks to the year he's had because teams don't draft 24 year olds in the 1st round.

The bigger problem, IMO, was that instead of Davis or Hill taking wide open jumpers, these possessions generally ended in fruitless drives into the lane by Edwards. With the defense already doubling on Hammons, there were just too many bodies to make that successful. I definitely would have rather taken my chances with Hill or Davis shooting a jumper and then getting the rebound for the putback. The way Purdue struggled to get the ball into Hammons, I feel like he would have had more touches just getting rebounds than trying to post up.

He admittedly isn't in love with the game of basketball. That's not meant to be a dig -- he's said that before. Getting motivated to do something you are very good at but don't necessarily love is very tough to do. Kudos to him for getting in shape.

Yesterday was one of the few times that on the court I thought he felt very frustrated when he wasn't getting the ball. Early in his career he probably wouldn't have cared that much. I'd rather have a player frustrated that apathetic.
