Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

So if you disagree with someone just make wild statements and insult them, then say the other side in not tolerant.
What a red herring. Who on here has made 'wild statements and insulted' anyone?

And why are you avoiding the fact that you said 'you spoke to the governor and he was changing by executive order' when in fact the executive order did not address the specific item we were talking about?
Brum,

Do you really believe I have access to the Gov. NC political access is different than Indiana. General Assembly is the most open on any state and talking to state legislators is easy but the Gov not so much. I was totally joking I did not talk to the gov.

SirBri- Said NC was behind the world LGBT issues. That is wild and over the top. Saying that the supreme court will overturn something is over the top. Supreme Court decisions are currently a plinko board.

1. NC is behind on LGBT issues as evidence by the passing of the law. His statement is in no way 'wild and over the top'.

2. The supreme court would overturn that decision. That's a plinko board with no pegs.

If NC isn't behind the times on LGBT issues, where are all the other states with pro-discrimination/pro-violence LGBT related bills? When your only company is Mississippi, you should know you're doing something wrong.

Pro Violence

This bill is about keeping men out of the women's room. Not a pro violence bill

Baloney.

Are you going to tell me that in North Carolina that we will now have someone to check birth certificate gender at the door?

This bill will pave the path for even more violence against the very vulnerable lgbt community. It will not prevent a sexual predator from abusing women in a restroom.

I do not think we have LGBT violence in NC.

are you joking? Forget everything I just said earlier then. I didn't know North Carolina was the only state in the nation that didn't have any violence against the LGBT community.

Also bg, i'm curious if you knew that a lot of pre-op trans people (especially those who are far along in their hormonal treatment) already use the bathroom of the gender they identify with? Meaning, that biological "men" are already in women's restrooms and biological "women" are in men's restrooms. And that it is very likely that you have shared a restroom with a biological "female" and your daughter (assuming you have one) has shared a restroom with a biological "male"?

Now those folks will be breaking the law, which may incentivise them to switch back to their biological bathroom. Which will lead to the appearance of females in the men's room and vice versa....which can be an extremely dangerous situation for those trans folks who just need to use the restroom.

I know you said that LGBT targeted violence does exist in NC (excuse me while i try to keep down the vomit that idea is triggering right now), but if this law does stick, does the above scenario in any way, shape, or form appear to you that it will decrease the likelihood of a violent or aggressive act against a trans person?

I do not think we have LGBT violence in NC.
But you also believe that the thing that stops a male sexual predator from going into the women's bathroom is a signed bill from the governor.

And many on the left believe more gun control laws will keep criminals from using guns. It's true that more gun laws make it easier to punish gun offenders more, which is a good thing. Similar to how a law like this can be used to punish male sex-offenders attempting to spy-on or harass women/girls in restrooms/lockers. If a man looks like a woman and uses the woman's restroom without walking around naked, nobody is going to notice or care. Move along folks, there's nothing to see here, but it is a good wedge issue.

Except for that male that looks like a female who uses (and has been using) the women's restroom will now be breaking the law. Which, in a sense, criminalizes sexual orientation.

Ah, the good ole 'they gonna take r guns' argument used by the right on when they don't really have anything of value to add to a conversation. Lovely.

Oh I get it, you're insinuating that people who support the 2nd amendment are less articulate than anti-gun nuts, and therefore probably less intelligent. Good one.

I see your point. Good laws must take into account many end-cases so they can be implemented fairly. I'd support language that makes it legal for a transgender person to use either bathroom if they have the necessary paper-work. *sigh* I guess this means we need to hire more government workers to manage this...
