Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

i agree. Those girls are disgraceful and racism shouldn't be tolerated at West Point.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Woah. Mighty big assumption going on there. Considering none of them have said anything, I'm not going to pretend to know why they did it or what it's supposed to mean, if anything.

Not that big of an assumption.

Still would like to hear what they have to say.

I think it's great that more people of color are graduating from our most respected military academies compared to the years of past. And if this is a sign of solidarity for their brothers and sisters, good on them. But at the end of the day, how sad is it that people are getting super offended by this...and by people, i mean white people.

It is still an assumption. I agree we should probably hear what they have to say.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

From the article. Other possibilities.

Quote:

She said the image of the cadets "wasn't a sign of formal allegiance to any political movement or party. This was an act of unity amongst sisters and a symbol of achievement."

Quote:

"The raised fist gesture is associated with numerous political movements, and it can't be tied to any one ideology or message,"

An activist in support of the West Point cadets has said that the women's pose could also be interpreted as the "Army Strong" pose, which she writes "is commonly done by the cadet corps during football games and army victories.

Mike Brown is over.

What I am talking about is the Former Marine's point of view on Black Lives matter.

Before I respond, I want to reiterate that we do not yet know if the women in the photo were supporting BLM with their fists raised.

Now, I've said it before, but I do not believe that "Black Lives Matter" means that all lives don't matter. They're not mutually exclusive. Of course all lives matter. A good quote I heard was this:

In a neighborhood, all houses matter. But when one is on fire, you don't pour water on all of them. You don't send rescue personnel to all of them. You help the one that is burning. The Black Lives Matter movement is about calling attention to the house that's burning. It's not saying, "only our house matters."

Puh-lease. There is a reason that there is a military rule limiting political activity in the military.

Anyway, internal review has already reached their conclusion and stated that the cadets did not pre-plan their gesture nor mean it as a political statement. I hope that you aren't super offended by them not showing a sign of solidarity for their brothers and sisters. It seems silly to me that someone would be offended by someone reading something into a 'symbol' that they themselves are interpreting incorrectly themselves.
