Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I think that it will take some time before we see how it truly impacts both the UK and the EU....think the markets right now are doing their typical over reaction.

I don't get why they're leaving. The incentive to leave seems to be far outweighed by the risk.

This was the London Times' headline back in 1776 + the time it took a boat to cross the Atlantic. :D

Probably because big government sucks and more people are starting to see it.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

As you showed in the post after it, some people may have voted for it because of lack of trust in big government (in this case, multinational).....but in general, the public isn't that deep. IMO, I think the vote to leave it had more to do with nationalism without an understanding of exactly what it means in term of the actual governmental actions and powers that are going to be involved.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of those who voted for or against leaving the EU couldn't provide two real reasons that they voted on it. And that's not a strike against the British.....in the U.S., either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will be the next president.

I work with guys from Wales and India, and they were both pretty bummed about the vote. I wondered why there couldn't be a "EU light" version that kept most of the economic and ease of movement advantages of EU membership, while reducing the control of the central EU government. They seemed somewhat shocked that I suggested that, which leads me to believe they would like to see a global government. These guys generally vote for Democrats, and I don't.

There is an EU Lite version already. It's called the European Economic Area and Iceland and Norway are members. They pay fees to the EU, but are not EU members. EU citizens can travel freely through the countries just like any other EU country and Icelandic and Norwegian citizens can do the same. They have to follow all the EU laws, except for those concerning farming, fishing, taxes, judicial system and foreign policy.
