Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I guess we should just have a running one since they happen so often now. Horrific news from Nice. At least 80 dead as of now according to reports.

Hilliary's been talking out more against the Jihadists. That's one area where's she's a bit vulnerable, IMO.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Ban cars.
Definitely no point in doing things to try and prevent more gun violence when we still have cars. Amiright?

Sarcastic? Yes. Relevant? Yes. Are you blaming truck manufacturers and the lack of background checks on truck sales for this tragedy?

Cars and guns aren't the same.

We actually require people to take a test in order to be able to use a car.

I am not sure French truck ownership laws have any relevance to gun ownership in the USofA,

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

Here let me answer for grey.

Nuh-uh. I can drive a truck on my property anytime I want without a license... Cause roads are not required to drive.

Totally right? Just like all those times I said we should ban guns, right?

trucks /= gun /= forks /= C4

What you do with one does not mean you have to do the same with literally everything else.

It's illegal for me to buy a bike, therefore it should be illegal for everyone to buy a gun.

We do not require you to take any tests whatsoever to buy a truck. None. I don't think person like this idiot in France would care much about whether or not they are legally operating the vehicle that they are about to use to slaughter 50 people. Same as the criminal who acquires a gun.

Dreach, do you think we should have mandatory background checks for all truck purchases?

I think the current method we use of requiring a license and registration in order to drive a car is enough. In private sales, I wouldn't expect us to require a private citizen to run a background check on someone else. But, when the new registration is sent in with the new owner, if that person is legally not allowed to drive the car, I would expect that registration to be denied, thereby making the car illegal to drive.

I don't know whether this opinion constitutes me being in favor a background checks for cars or not. I guess on some level it both does and doesn't.
