First things first: 1v1 fights don't take supports into account so if that's all you plan on doing, you don't really need to check this.

While we deliberate about how to implement supports fully, for the time being you may acquire C supports with up to two other characters.

What bonuses do supports grant? Depends on affinity. For 1 level of support, the bonuses are as follows:

Fire: Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5
Thunder: Defense +0.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Wind: Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Ice: Defense + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Dark: Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade +2.5
Light: Attack + 0.5, Defense + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5
Anima: Attack + 0.5, Defense + 0.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5

Important: Attack has the same effect whether the blow is physical or magical. Same with Defense.

To figure out how much the support bonuses grant, simply take the bonuses of one affinity, then smash them into the bonuses of the other. Then multiply by the level of support. Decimals are rounded down. For example, a Fire/Anima C support gives +1 Attack, +2 Accuracy, +5 Avoid, +2 Crit, and +2 Critical Evade.
