Sorry about the industrial appearance button. It was designed for another board where I had a mod who needed strong visual indication she was dealing with a special function button. I made the delete button red for that board!

Concerning your posts, wow. Lots to think about there.

And 7th Fleet seems to get any TF formed in a SWPAC (or subordinate army) port, as well.

There is an easy way around the exe's coding on this. If you want 5th Fleet to have a fast carrier TF instead of 3rd Fleet, form a 5th Fleet bombardment group with some extra DDs, then form an air combat TF and as the first ship selected take a DD unit from the 5F bombardment TF, and secondly take a carrier from anywhere. Job done.

To me the split function is good enough. The fleet numbers don't matter. I figure I'm getting more total prep points this way.

In that v324 game I played through to late 45 I ended up with 12 fast carrier task forces (including the RN, 27 CVs & 7 remaining CVLs) so I split them 6 each for Halsey and Spruance, and had 5 or 6 CVE TFs and the RN 25knot CVL group under 7th Fleet, to spread the PP load.

Incidentally, would it be possible to start a leader discussion topic?

I think Ted Sherman and Jack Towers should be included at the expense of Charles Pownall and Bill Harrill. There is a fair argument that Bill Harrill is underated in the game as an air leader, and saddled with a fairly poor agression rating, but as it is I have never appointed these guys to command anything, and I doubt anyone else ever has. Harrill only had a TG command for a month or two in June 1944, clashed with the more agressive Jocko Clark, and an appendictus attack on 28 June provided an opportunity for Mitscher to relieve him.

Anything you think is important enough for its own topic, just start one.

Will do.

What I think is needed for this before any large changes are made is a study of average ratings and a comparison between SSI and Matrix.
