So I've thought about growing out my hair which I haven't cut my hair in two years, I have noticed it hasn't really grown very much passed a certain point. I don't know if any of this information will help but I have dry, thick, frizzy hair, also a little bit curly. It used to be shoulder length a couple years ago but once it started to reach down below chest-length, it's been months and it seems to have stopped really growing... but I really feel like growing it longer. Can anyone with long hair give me some useful hair advice?

I haven't seen you with your hair that length, that's a nice length, but if you're having trouble growing it super super long then you're probably not nourishing it properly. :/ Healthy hair grows on average about 1/2 inch every month, but can grow even faster when cared for properly. Hair is a protein filament, so include plenty of protein in your diet. Keep your hair hydrated by drinking plenty of water and using moisturizing conditioners. Eat plenty of almonds, fish (salmon especially) and dark green vegetables. Make sure your iron levels are adequate too. Stimulate your hair follicles by give your scalp a massage every day for 10 minutes, and flip your head upside down every day for about 2 minutes. It might sound weird but it stimulates hair growth. Healthy, nourishing hair masks, are a must. Also, get regular trims every couple of months to prevent split ends and encourage healthy growth and your hair will grow very quickly.

Okay. Your hair damaged and the ends are breaking off. Are you sure you're taking good care of your hair? :S My advice for you is to cut your hair short and make changes to your daily hair routine. Are you always treating your hair to too much heat or chemicals? If so, stop it, seriously. I almost always towel dry my hair and I never treat it to harsh chemicals. Always use a heat protectant when you are using heat on your hair (blowdrying, curling iron, flat iron, etc). Make sure to buy a good shampoo/condition for your hair type and only wash a couple of days a week, but treat your hair to a good hair mask once a week. If you follow my advice and stick to it, your hair should be beautiful again. Good luck my friend. :) Edited by Subliminal, Jun 7 2018, 02:27 PM.

Thanks ladies! I know I can trust your advices because you both have such wonderful long hair. <3 @Subliminal, I wash my hair every day and I know that strips my scalp of its natural oils, but I'd feel totally gross if I stopped washing my hair as it is, because I sweat very easily from my scalp when I'm moving around unless it's cold out. I think part of it is because I have very thick hair which increases the temperature of my scalp, but I sweat easily in general when it gets warm out. Edited by Claire386, Jun 7 2018, 07:30 PM.

Excuse me girls, I don't mean to hijack this thread (even though I do believe it was done with) but I have a problem myself. I'm 25 years old and my hair has already thinned out to the point that I look 10 years older, or in other words, I'm balding prematurely. Is there anything I can do to reverse this? Should I look into purchasing hair growth treatments? What if nothing works? Save my head! All help is greatly appreciated...

Claire: I used to have really long hair, but then I cut it because it wasn't healthy. Now my hair is about the same length as yours and grows very fast. What I like to do is once a week treat my hair to a weekly oil hair mask, and only wash it every other day. This should help prevent you hair from drying out. And if you're suffering from dry frizzy hair, dove has an anti-frizz oil therapy hair mask which would surely be perfect for you. ^.^ Nob: Aww. :( How bad is your balding? If it's really bad and you've tried everything afforementioned and nothing works, then you should look into an SMP treatment as a last resort option. It gives off the look of a full head of hair, and it doesn't hurt! I know this because my father has used it. ^_^ It will cost you a few thousand dollars though, but if your hair loss is really that bad, you should look into it! ^^ |

Can't spend thousands of dollars right now on SMP, but I really like the idea and will look into it for the future when I have more money. It's much better than getting a painful hair transplant, and I won't have to always wear a hat. Thanks Lila, and you should make an introduction thread so everyone can welcome you back! |

Dude try to grow your hair back with the natural methods we mentioned above. If that doesn't work then just shave, which looks 1000% better than those creepy dudes who slick their hair back to hide the balding or whatever. |
