In lieu of CM Punk's humiliating abrupt loss to Mickey Gall 2 years ago, he long vowed for a rematch in the UFC for redemption! His opponent, Mike Jackson, also 0-1, has lost his only MMA fight to Mickey as well. As I am typing this, I am watching UFC 225 with the boyfriend over discord, and the fight just started. We are both wishing for CM Punk will win, but we kinda doubt he will lol. Someone's 0 has got to go! Is CM Punk ready? Who you cheering for? His coach Duke Roufus says he's 200% better this time, so let's hope he can surprise. |

Just watched the match. Horrible. They threw the weakest guy they could find at Punk and he still lost, and badly at that. Shows that lack of fighting experience trumps training. Punk was already completely gassed out by turn 2. |

HAHAHAHAHA. I cheered for neither of them. They're both shit. That fight was absolute shit, but seeing Phil get embarrassed WORSE than last time was fantastic! Phil, you can't start doing MMA in your late 30's and expect to compete on a professional level especially in such a short period of time with no amateur fights under your belt. You can train, but you need experience. Punk's lack of stamina is the main thing that cost him here. I loved Mike Jackson's antics though. He was so clearly superior and better than Punk that he stalled a gassed out Punk 2 rounds intentionally while showboating like a huge dick. The fight wasn't even that close really. Punk was bloody, exhausted, and completely clueless on what to do to defend himself while MJ toyed with and taunted him. |

Punk has done a great job devaluing himself. Was fun seeing the talentless actor trying to win in an actual competition with nothing but heart. I enjoyed it. It made me laugh especially with Rogan's commentary. I think CM Punk got what he deserved, which is another dose of realism. |

Another CM Punk thread? Nice to have our second thread to bash CM Punk. Totally embarrassing and humiliating for Punk to lose to a guy like this. This is what happens when all you've got behind you is talk. He's delegitimizing himself and professional wrestling. He went in there and looked like he had never sparred. His kicks looked terrible, his ground game was atrocious. This is what many of us who know of the guy but don't really watch his wrestling stuff are going to remember him for. Jackson just toyed with him and humiliated him. |

Mike was cut wasn't he? I assume he thought his antics would bring attention to his skills, possibly gaining him some fans even. Unfortunately for him, the opposite happened. Plus, Punk arguably won the first round. I gained more respect for Punk in that fight then I did the other guy. |

Novelty, Dana was angry because he messed around like that. Kinda mixed on this, Mike acted unprofessionally in there and should have went for the finish but this huge disparity in level was due to the UFC setting up the match in the first place. How could anyone have expected CM Punk to win this fight? You could tell just by looking at both of them who the better athlete was. |

Jackson is an entertainer himself. He even cut a cringey wrestling style promo on CM. Am I the only one here besides the OP who rooted for Punk? And it's not even about his wrestling career... I just hated seeing him lose the way he did in the first fight, which should have never happened. They should have put Punk in the minor leagues against other amateur fighters and had him work his way up. He would never be ready for the UFC that soon in his career. Oh well, it still took courage for him to go in there and give it a shot. As for the fight itself. I think during the fight he was trying to play the role of a "heel", with CM being an obvious "face". But he didn't get the reaction he was looking for, and instead pissed of Dana and got fired. But what I found really strange was what Jackson said after the fight. He claimed his gameplan was to go for the knockout. On what planet? |

Well he lasted much longer in there this time so can't we at least accredit him for that? Anyway I wanted him to win; the arena wanted him to win, and probably the entire wrestling world wanted him to win, so seeing that fight happen the way it did was very disappointing. However, it's not something that should surprise any of us either. He wasn't that athletic, and has his age going against him. |
