lol. You'll only be sent "to fight rats" as a reason to go into the cellar.

There are other things in the subterranian parts of baulder's gate.

The problem being the reason isn't likely to draw my character in. It's yucky. Plus little to no combat skills to speak of. My character is all skills until level 2, then I'm all skills plus some utility that mostly screws over the party. Level 8 I have combat ability.

true.

... course I could always throw something in that would draw us all into a combat situation right away.

Could. Just don't expect me to actually... You know... Fight. Because I really can't. I pretty much have class levels in Expert.

throw random things and accept the -4 penalty for an improvised weapon and / or hide behind the wizard with a fullblade, the paladin, and the half dragon with a greatsword? lol

So the latter? Absolutly. My character isn't a warrior, at least not until at least level 13 or so. It's the balance problem of monster classes. By level 2, everyone is better then me. By level 4, I'm a liability. By level 12, everyone's wondering why they have me, but then I have a minor chance of summoning a Balor, which really makes no sense.

Then level 18, I can animate houses to crush my enemies, and all is well again. Except everyone else can take down said houses in one turn, but thats besides the point.

The monster class idea was alright, but poorly balanced, because monster abilities are inferior to class abilities of the same level. The only actualy good monster classes are the ones with enormous str bonuses, because you don't need any class levels to be relevent, they just hit things, like fighters. But caster types get the shaft as real casters surpass them easily. And the rest are either Experts or have low ecls as to remain relevent.

Having a leveled template like Shadow Max actually allows him to remain relevent as templates do not replace hit dice or clas abilities though so he doesn;t have the same issues.

Overall, monster classes were abit ham fisted. But they were also designed for 3.0 come to think of it, not 3.5 so suffer from alot of 3.0's problems as well. Plus, the summon balor thing definetly needs to be taken out. I don't think a cap stone ability should be for a minor demon having a small chance to summon the second ost powerful non unique demon type in existence. Plus that was taken out in 3.5, and I don;t want to acdidentally TPK everyone else haha.

lol. How about a DM stating a reduced ECL to 5 rather than 8 and edit your level progression due to that then?

That would help yes. An take out the Balor. That's just trouble waiting to happen, besides making no sense. If I can make a suggestion, can you make a 3.5 version of the succubus monster class? Savage species one is 3.0 and it grates on me compared to the 3.5 one, and you seem actually able to make such things.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I really rather not be dead weight in the party.

Two things though. what about the natural armor and claws... And the other ability scores besides cha etc. Also think it's missing 6 of the cha... Also, spell resistance.

sorry.
SR 7 at level 1, +1 SR at each subsuquent level.
I was thinking it was an elete relay, otherwise its +3 str, +3 dex, +3con, +6 int, +4 wis, +16 cha, with all other stat bonuses other than the +10 cha at first level taking place at fourth level (to take up the gap I placed there.)
AC is +3 at first level. +6 at third, +9 at fifth

that should cover it.
